🎄✨The holidays can be joyful — and overwhelming.
Children are used to predictable school routines, but travel, late nights, events, unfamiliar faces, and social expectations can quickly disrupt that structure. For neurodivergent children, this can lead to uncertainty, increased masking, and burnout — which often peaks in December.
💡 Support Tips for the Season:
• Give a clear heads-up about what’s coming
“First we’re going to Grandma’s house, then Shelby’s Christmas concert.”
• Pack sensory supports like headphones, sunglasses, or a change of clothes
• Build in breaks and identify a quiet space ahead of time
• Stay with your child, co-regulate, and check in before returning to the celebration
✨ Regulation comes before participation.
Wishing you a season filled with understanding, self-care, joy, and meaningful support for neurodivergent individuals and their families.
