Comfrey collaboration between our Mother Garden and Reclaim our Roots groups 🌿We had a magical sunny afternoon deep diving into the permaculture staple comfrey; learning about the many benefits for the garden 🌿 medicinal virtues 🌿 and folklore. We made comfrey fertiliser, comfrey balm and demonstrated her homemade incense recipe: which fitted beautifully into the Beltane theme of fire for the day. ✨

The sunset was beautiful through the spring green canopy this evening. We welcomed more new friends who’d seen us online and came tonight for the first time 💚 lots of gardening action, some special lemon balm nettle and raspberry leaf tea and a cold cleavers infusion by request. Gifts of herbs and cake from our gang. Loads more embroidery and fabric painting action for the craftivism element and all to the backdrop of the wonderful musicians! This is the song we end on each night. 🌿 thanks for being there everyone… and if you’ve been watching us online, why not pop along next week? 6-8pm Thursday

🧵🧶🪡 Rescheduled 2nd date for the Sustainable Fashion Project Introduction 🧵🧶🪡

Are you looking to learn new skills in making and mending, upcycling and customizing clothing? Maybe you have skills to share?

As part of our project we are exploring the impact of fast fashion and our throwaway culture on the environment.

Each year, considering the 'produce no waste' , we have held a fashion show showcasing preloved, swopped and shared items. This year we want to uplift methods and techniques which would have once been in everyday usage. Darning, repairing, patching and creating new garments from old, outgrown or unused fabrics. We will also explore crochet, knitting, embroidery, sashiko, kantha and using unusual, sustainable material

Join us on Sunday 3rd May 11-1 in the community room

Beginners, experts, all welcome ✨️☀️

Bring your enthusiasm, curiosity, ideas and any fabric, old garments, yarns and threads you would like to use or share.

We will have a couple of sewing machines available in the Monday HCG Crafting connections group and resources for hand sewing, embroidery, patchwork and more

We would love to showcase your creations at our Summer Festival on Saturday 13th June for

Tonight in ekho woods village evenings session, we said so long farewell to our friend peach 🍑 who is moving down to Brighton. We also made fire cider oxymels for some stubborn colds and introduced some new friends to the medicine garden. We made more art for the air pollution banner, ate cake, drank rhubarb cordial and lemon balm tea and most of all enjoyed the company of good friends x thanks to all who came. Miss you already Peach 🍑

Pritam! Our Wagamama friend and excellent chef, joined us in the village kitchen today to teach us some of his chef skills and cook up a storm. He made a traditional Kolkatta dish from our pantry items from Foodbank and taught us a thing or two about cooking rice and spice mixes. We had a great time and can’t wait to have him back again soon 🌿 it was great to have and others from the community join us to eat.
