🎯 Condom Use Done Right = Powerful HIV Prevention!

Using a condom the right way, every time is one of the most effective ways to prevent HIV, other STIs, and unintended pregnancy. But it only works when used correctly from start to finish.

🔑 Quick tips for correct condom use:

1️⃣ Check the expiry date and ensure the packet is not damaged.
2️⃣ Open carefully — avoid tearing with teeth or sharp objects.
3️⃣ Pinch the tip of the condom to remove air.
4️⃣ Roll it on before any s*xual contact begins.
5️⃣ Use the entire time during s*x — don’t remove midway.
6️⃣ Hold the base when withdrawing to prevent slipping.
7️⃣ Dispose safely in a bin — never flush it.

💡 Remember: No condom = No protection.

HIV is rising across the Pacific, with national outbreaks declared in Fiji and Papua New Guinea. The 2026 Pacific HIV Symposium will convene regional health leaders, clinicians, policymakers and community organisations from across the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand to strengthen prevention, treatment, and care and build a coordinated response to the growing HIV epidemic.
