Your skin doesn’t just respond to what you touch… it responds to what you feel.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That’s why this visual hits home for so many of our clients.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This Eczema-Stress Cycle isn’t just a theory.⁣⁣
It’s one of the most common patterns we see in 1,000+ eczema cases.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Stress dysregulates the nervous system →⁣⁣
Inflammation rises →⁣⁣
The skin flares →⁣⁣
The cycle repeats.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This isn’t “just stress.”⁣⁣
It’s not “all in your head.”⁣⁣
It’s neuroinflammation. ⁣⁣
It’s immune activation.⁣⁣
It’s your body stuck in survival mode.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And here’s the empowering part 👉🏼⁣
You can break the pattern.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Not by ignoring stress.⁣⁣
But by supporting your nervous system’s ability to recover from it.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That’s the key most protocols miss.⁣⁣

Does your eczema keep reacting — even when you’re doing “everything right”?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You might be stuck in the Eczema-Stress Loop.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This happens when your nervous system gets locked in survival mode.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You might not FEEL stressed.⁣⁣⁣
But your body is stuck in alert:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
🧠 Scratching becomes automatic⁣⁣⁣
🛏 Sleep stays disrupted⁣⁣⁣
🧴 Triggers feel constant⁣⁣⁣
💬 You never fully exhale⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The longer you live in that state, the harder it is for your skin to calm down⁣⁣⁣
because your body doesn’t feel safe enough to heal.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The 6 signs in this post aren’t just symptoms.⁣⁣⁣
They’re messages from your nervous system.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Not to panic.⁣⁣⁣
But to pay attention.⁣⁣⁣
Because this loop can be broken… step by step, with the right tools, in the right order.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣

Have you ever noticed your eczema gets itchy when you’re stressed & overwhelmed?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Orrrr that your eczema came back during a high stress period of life?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Comment “YES” below⁣ 👇🏼⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This isn’t just anecdotal.⁣⁣
It’s one of the most common patterns we see across 1,000 clients inside the Love Your Skin Program.⁣⁣
Deiarna said:⁣⁣
“I was stressed about being stressed. My husband said - you just wake up stressed”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She had a history of allergies.⁣⁣
Her eczema came back after the death of both parents.⁣⁣
And she was carrying a hidden stress load that no cream could fix.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She didn’t even realise being in a ‘stressed, fight flight survival state’⁣⁣
Was her baseline of normal now.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🚩 This is what we call the Eczema-Stress Cycle:⁣⁣
Stress dysregulates the nervous system →⁣⁣
That stress becomes neuro inflammation →⁣⁣
Inflammation overflows the eczema flare bucket →⁣⁣
The skin responds → rashes⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s not “just in your head.”⁣⁣
It’s a full mind body feedback loop ⁣⁣
… one that most protocols completely miss.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💡 The good news?⁣⁣
There is a way to break this cycle⁣⁣
Not overnight. ⁣⁣
But step by step… with the right tool at the right time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Have you seen this pattern in your own body?⁣⁣

Does this sound like you…?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
… You’re busy from the moment you wake up to when your head hits the pillow⁣⁣⁣
… Your mind never stops racing—there are always a thousand tabs open⁣⁣⁣
… Your worst flares always seem to hit after major life stressors or transitions?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
If you’re nodding your head right now⁣⁣⁣
Comment “YES” below 👇🏼⁣

⁣⁣⁣
You’re not alone.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
In fact, this is true for 99% of our clients.⁣⁣⁣
(It was a huge part of my own eczema journey too.)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So if stress is the straw that broke the camel’s back...⁣⁣⁣
What can you actually do about it?⁣⁣⁣

Most people try to:⁣⁣⁣
❌ Avoid stress completely⁣⁣⁣
❌ “Think positive” and hope for the best⁣⁣⁣

But here’s the truth:⁣⁣⁣

💥 The problem isn’t stress.⁣⁣⁣
💥 The problem is how your mind and body RESPOND to stress.⁣⁣⁣

When your nervous system is dysregulated,⁣⁣⁣
even small day-to-day stressors are perceived as a life-threatening event.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
That chronic overdrive? It’s what's fueling your eczema flare ups.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The real problem?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Your mind + body has just lost resiliency⁣⁣⁣
After being in overdrive for so long⁣⁣⁣
your system no longer has the resources to bounce back.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
After looking at these diagrams, does it make sense that if you want term relief from your eczema you have to rewire the Brain-Skin Connection?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Otherwise, you’ll keep ending up back at square one—no matter what you eat, apply, or avoid.⁣⁣⁣

Healing heroes… OR hidden eczema triggers?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you've ever stocked up on “gut-healing” foods ⁣⁣
like sauerkraut and broth only to end up ⁣⁣
more itchy, inflamed, and congested⁣⁣
⁣⁣
… you're not alone.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here's what most people don’t realise:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
These foods are amazing... in a regulated system.⁣⁣
💛 Bone broth → rich in collagen + glycine to rebuild the gut lining and support skin repair⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💛 Fermented veggies → packed with probiotics to support microbial diversity and immune regulation⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But if your body isn’t ready for them?⁣⁣
They can backfire.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
❌ When gut dysfunction or histamine overload is present:⁣⁣
Bone broth + fermented foods can trigger flares⁣⁣
Prebiotic fibers can cause bloating⁣⁣
High histamine foods can feel like rashes, hives, hayfever, or brain fog⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because your body is already carrying a high histamine load ⁣⁣
(from stress, gut bugs, food sensitivities, allergies, etc.)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
if you're lacking the nutrients needed to clear that histamine?⁣⁣
= Histamine Overload → Rashes⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is why eczema healing isn't one size fits all.⁣⁣
In the Love Your Skin Program, we map your symptoms + healing phase first —⁣⁣
So you can use the right tool at the right time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because food as medicine?⁣⁣
Only works if it’s the right medicine for your body.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🔎 What is your experience with bone broth or fermented foods?⁣⁣

B. Eczema triggers⁣⁣

This is the #1 thing everyone misses with Candida + Eczema⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
First, the common Candida + Eczema mistakes:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
➡️ I just have to starve Candida⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Yes, diet always plays a role BUT …⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
-> You can’t just remove sugar & carbohydrates ⁣⁣⁣
-> You also need to kill the fungi⁣⁣⁣
-> long term this leads to nutrient deficiencies (which affect the microbiome, immune system, skin and every other body system)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
➡️ I just have to kill it ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Yes, antifungals are required, BUT we see so many people.. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
-> self-prescribing oregano oil (which doesn’t reach the intestines)⁣⁣⁣
-> long-term use of antifungals (also kills your good bacteria)⁣⁣⁣
-> not doing the Gut Prep FIRST and Repair after (which can lead to rashes in the short term and long term)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
➡️ Assuming all eczema is a Candida overgrowth⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
PLEASE do not blindly put yourself on an Anti-Candida Diet or Antifungal protocol.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Work with an educated and skilled Practitioner to make sure fungus is actually the problem.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⚠️ And the #1 thing everyone misses? ⚠️ ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
IMMUNE SUPPORT!!⁣⁣⁣
There is a reason WHY Candida was given the opportunity to overgrow.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Candida is an opportunistic overgrowth.⁣⁣⁣
When given the opportunity (poor immune function), it will overgrow.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The aim of treatment is to reduce candida overgrowth (you won’t eradicate it 100%) and have a symbiotic relationship with the good and opportunistic bacteria⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
How?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
-> Increase your beneficial bacteria (so they overpopulate the candida)⁣⁣⁣
-> Increase immune resiliency (so it doesn’t overgrow)⁣⁣⁣
-> Get to the root cause of WHY you had candida overgrowth (antibiotics, chronic stress, low gastric acid, nutrient deficiencies, gut dysfunction, hidden infections, etc)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So then?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
When you get sick, have to take antibiotics, have a stressful period…⁣⁣⁣
You have immune resiliency ⁣⁣⁣
So you won’t get a candida outbreak⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This is part of the process we use in the Love Your Skin Program that's helped 100’s and 100’s of people heal and manage their eczema long term.⁣⁣⁣

How many times have you heard from Dr’s: “Eczema, it’s genetic. You have to live with it. Bad luck⁣.”?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Countless times? Yep, me too.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
What if I told you…. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Eczema = 🔥 inflammation + dry skin⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You can’t have eczema without the internal inflammation⁣⁣⁣
⁣That’s just dry skin⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Eczema is the multiple sources of inflammation ⁣⁣
INSIDE the body ⁣⁣
That's causing eczema on the OUTSIDE.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣After helping 1000 people heal their eczema,⁣⁣⁣
⁣It’s never the skin we focus on.⁣⁣⁣
(Hint: the first thing we look at is the gut & nervous system) ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Think of your eczema as a fire of inflammation⁣ 🔥⁣⁣
The itching, the burning, the painful, red, angry rashes⁣⁣⁣
⁣The itch-scratch cycle that turns it into an inferno wildfire⁣⁣⁣
Guess what?⁣⁣⁣
⁣What you see on the OUTSIDE, ⁣⁣
is a reflection of what's happening INSIDE your body.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The rashes?⁣⁣⁣
They’re the engine light 🚨,⁣⁣
in your body going red (a very painful one).⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So.. How do you find out what's causing your eczema?⁣⁣⁣
⁣Look at what your symptoms are telling you.⁣⁣⁣
(⁣Your symptoms are screaming at you, begging you where to find the source of inflammation.)⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The first step?⁣⁣⁣
⁣What symptoms are you experiencing?⁣⁣⁣
(This will lead you to the root cause)⁣⁣

Reintroducing gluten with eczema? Read this 🍕⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Gluten is one of the most common eczema triggers. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Not just because of food sensitivity, ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
But because it increases gut permeability ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
and can trigger systemic inflammation when gut overgrowth is present.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
So if you’ve cut it out because you're doing gut healing work⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
and your skin finally calmed down…⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
How do you bring it back without flaring all over again?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
👉 Once you’ve done the work of healing your root causes⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
And your gut has the resilience to start reintroducing foods⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
…. this is how we guide clients to reintroduce gluten:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✅ Start with a small piece of fermented sourdough (not supermarket bread)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✅ Eat it with protein + fiber (like steak + salad)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✅ Share meals (don’t binge a whole pizza alone)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✅ Increase slowly to retrain your gut’s tolerance⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✅ Go to a proper Italian restaurant that makes its own pizza dough and/or pasta (they use traditional flour, which breaks down gluten, making it easier to digest)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Inside the Love Your Skin Program, we teach you how to rebuild gut resilience so your body stops reacting to everything… and you can enjoy food again without fear.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
This isn’t about cutting out food forever.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
It’s about using the right tool at the right time⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
with a body that’s ready to receive it.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
You can reach a point where food isn’t the enemy.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Where dining out isn’t stressful.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Where your skin isn’t your daily decision-maker.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

One of the biggest eczema + allergy myths?⁣

“If I have allergies, I’ll always react badly.”⁣

Carla’s story shows why that’s not true.⁣

Yes — IgE allergies are real.⁣
Yes — your immune system may always recognise certain triggers.⁣

But here’s what most people aren’t told:⁣
👉🏼 The intensity of your reaction is not fixed.⁣

Your immune response is shaped by:⁣

🔥 how inflamed your body already is⁣
🔥 how full your “flare-up bucket” is⁣
🔥 how supported your gut, liver, and nervous system are⁣
🔥 how much stress your body is carrying day to day⁣

Before healing, Carla’s immune system was on high alert.⁣
Heat. Humidity. Pollen. Dust. Pet dander.⁣
Each one added fuel to the fire ⁣

Which showed on her skin 😩⁣

After doing the work, healing?⁣

Same environment. Same triggers.⁣
A very different response.⁣

This is what we mean when we say:⁣
We don’t cure eczema.⁣
We lower the load on the immune system.⁣

So when life happens,⁣
travel, seasons, stress, summer heat,⁣
your body can respond calmly instead of catastrophically.⁣

✨That’s freedom.⁣
✨ Not perfection.⁣
✨ Not avoidance.⁣

But having the tools to stay regulated and recover quickly.⁣

After doing this work healing, we see the IgE levels of allergens reduce drastically.. Time and time again 👏🏼⁣

You might’ve heard chickpeas are bad because they…⁣

❓ Contain phytic acid (aka “anti-nutrients”)⁣
❓ Causes bloating, gas and triggers SIBO⁣
❓ Worsen leaky gut ⁣
❓ Legumes cause inflammation⁣

Comment “YES” below if you’ve heard this.

You’ve also probably heard the opposite — that chickpeas are…⁣
✔️ Nutrient-dense⁣
✔️ Gut-loving⁣
✔️ Easy, affordable, versatile⁣

Confused?⁣

Ya the internet is FULL of contradicting information, and it’s a wild rodeo out there.⁣

Here’s the truth 👇🏼

Chickpeas can be a powerful food as medicine tool for eczema & gut healing⁣

… But ONLY IF you prepare them properly.⁣

🌿 They’re rich in prebiotic fiber (which feeds the good bugs in your gut)⁣
🌿 High in plant based protein rich (supports skin repair)⁣
🌿 Loaded vitamins + minerals (like zinc, magnesium + folate)⁣
🌿 Helps balance blood sugar (lowering inflammatory spikes that drive flares)⁣

BUT… there’s a catch:⁣

⚠️ Phytic acid (found in legumes) ⁣
can bind to minerals and reduce absorption⁣
That’s why soaking and prepping them matters… especially if you’ve got gut issues or eczema flares.⁣

📌 How to prep for maximum benefits:⁣

• Time poor? → Use organic tinned chickpeas⁣
• Gut-conscious? → Use dried chickpeas, soak overnight with a splash of ACV or lemon, rinse well, and cook⁣
• Hot tip: Use a rice cooker or slow cooker for batch prep!⁣

📌 My favourite Crunchy Chickpea Snack Recipe⁣

Savoury Version:⁣
• Toss cooked chickpeas in olive oil, salt, garlic, paprika (or your fave seasoning)⁣
• Roast at 200°C (400°F) for 28–30 min, tossing halfway⁣

Sweet Version:⁣
• Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup with cinnamon and a pinch of salt⁣

Ever tried roasted chickpeas? Got a fave eczema-friendly snack?⁣

A bit about me..

My journey into the world of Nutrition and Natural Medicine stemmed from a lifetime of suffering with eczema and gut issues. I used every steroid cream and natural cream under the sun with no long-term improvement. Then a trip overseas triggered the most horrendous gut issues, triggered more food intolerances and my eczema flared to the worse it’s been.

After seeing numerous doctors and dermatologists with no resolution, I felt frustrated and alone. I started investigating natural remedies and learnt first hand the connection between food, gut health and eczema.

This plus my passion for food and helping people led me to studying a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine. During this time I started Goodness on the Go ready made meals and started working with gyms.

Through personal and clinical experience I developed the Love Your Guts, Love Your Skin. This program helps people with digestive symptoms and eczema find relief so they can feel comfortable and confident in their skin.
