These findings underscore the potential of CBD as an adjunctive therapeutic agent for cancer treatment, highlighting its selective cytotoxic effects on malignant cells with limited impact on non-malignant cells.

Cannabis, particularly low-dose THC and CBD, may improve cognitive function in older adults by reducing brain inflammation, boosting neurogenesis in the hippocampus, and enhancing neural connectivity. It potentially reverses age-related decline by stimulating CB1 receptors, improving memory, learning, and processing speed while preserving brain volume in key areas.

🗂️Key Mechanisms for Cognitive Improvement

📑Neuroprotection and Anti-inflammatory Effects: CBD reduces oxidative stress and neuroinflammation, which are common in aging brains and linked to neurodegenerative conditions.

📑Restoring Brain Function via Low-Dose THC: Preclinical studies suggest very low-dose THC can reverse age-related declines in cognitive performance by acting on the endocannabinoid system.

📑Improved Neural Connectivity: Cannabis use in older adults has been associated with greater functional connectivity between the hippocampus and cerebellum, areas vital for memory and learning.

📑Neurogenesis: Daily stimulation of cannabinoid receptors has been shown to increase the growth of new neurons in the hippocampus.

🗂️Impact on Cognitive Domains:

📑Memory and Processing: Studies have linked lifetime cannabis use to better performance in processing speed, attention, and working memory.

📑Neural Structure: Lifetime use has been associated with larger brain volumes in CB1-rich regions like the caudate, putamen, and hippocampus.

Cannabinoids in preclinical research of sepsis: a scoping review.
Cannabinoids are promising therapeutic targets in the treatment of sepsis, as they improved survival, and reduced inflammation and organ injury. However, deleterious adverse effects were reported, with the underlying molecular mechanisms still unknown, and further research is needed to evaluate their benefits and future use in clinical research.

Psilocybin Rewire Brain Circuits Tied to Pain and Mood

Researchers have shown that psilocybin, the psychedelic compound in mushrooms, can relieve chronic pain and depression-like symptoms by targeting brain circuits rather than the site of injury.

In mice, a single dose eased suffering for nearly two weeks by modulating serotonin activity in the anterior cingulate cortex.

Unlike opioids, psilocybin worked like a “dimmer switch,” finely tuning signals rather than shutting them off completely.

The findings point to a promising new class of non-addictive treatments for chronic pain and mood disorders.

A study revealed that anxiety, depression, and chronic pain were the most common indications for medical cannabis, although legal status influenced use and conditions treated.
Participants reported a variety of methods of use, with smoking being the most common, although it was also associated with the highest rate of side effects.
Overall, 32.3% of participants rated cannabis as very effective for their primary condition.
