🏃♀️✨ From North Queensland to New York City 🌏
Two incredible mum's are proving it’s never too late to chase big dreams.
As part of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, Arika Appleby is lacing up for her first-ever overseas run, while Krissy Regan is taking on her fifth New York Marathon. 🗽💪
They’re doing it for themselves, their families, and for everyone who’s ever thought they couldn’t. ❤️
"It took me a while to figure out why I was doing it, but I just want to show people lets just show up and take the opportunities that are in front of us and just hope for the best," Ms Appleby told Saturday Brekky host Jess Naunton.
One of the biggest races in the world and these two women are making sure their footprints are felt all the way from the tropics to Times Square. 🙌

The Blessings and Curse of Midlife is my 6th book, inspired by a touch of mortality motivation and the desire to keep growing and going in a direction that feels right for me.
The idea for this book was concieved on this Hill where I lay a lot of my worries to rest whilst training for middle-aged mum marathons. 🏃♀️
The central themes of this book are; Health, Wealth, Work and Dealing with Death - 4 topics that often keep us awake at night. Sunday's talk will be candid, inspiring and fun. I hope to meet some new people with a passion for getting the most out of their life. 🤸
Huge thanks to Jasmine Healy-Pagan and the entire Sundalah Community Townsville who bring so much wellness and inspiration to our city. 🥰

Recently my new book was spotted on the beaches of Jamaica 🇯🇲 and it made me smile so much!
I am so grateful to those people both locally and internationally who support my work, and encourage me in my life.

Each day I’m working hard to balance the demands of working, parenting and keeping well on the outside and inside. It’s a challenge for many of us to get the balance right and it boils down to our choices.
As a 20-something, I had good health and an active lifestyle, then came the 30’s when I prioritised my career and life became far more sedentary and stressful. I was unable to conceive naturally and suffered with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Adrenal Fatigue. In my 40’s my body became tired, ached all over, I had breast cysts and I was technically obese. I was on a highway to an early grave and with 2 small children to care for, I made the choice to change to my Health and in doing so, I’ve changed my Life.
After I made the choice to get healthy, rather than to stay where I was, I became very curious about my physical, mental and emotional health. I researched a lot, watched hours of documentaries about food and healing, studied mindfulness and sought therapy to get on top of my traumas and grief.
When I combined all 3 of these strategies my physical, mental and emotional (spiritual) health started to flourish and pretty soon all my negative blood test results, liver function, aches pains and illness were a thing of the past. 12 months ago I weighed 80kgs and at no stage did I go on a diet. I merely changed the way I eat, wanting to nourish my body, believing that food is medicine and today I’m 17kgs lighter.
I did write a goal weight in my Journal, which is 63kgs and as of the 1st March, 2020, I’ve hit it. I feel so fit, so healthy and so content not because of the weight loss but also because I have reached my goal emotion which is Serenity - “the state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled”. The weight loss is a by-product of the choices I have made to nourish my body, exercise 5 x times a week, prioritise sleep, reduce stress, be mindful of my choices, thoughts and actions and to practise good self-care.
I want to be a role model for my children, to see me healthy, happy and chasing my dreams. I meditate daily, practise gratitude and share freely my hints and tips to help others. I was never given this prescription by any of the Dr’s I’ve ever met and I want to share this message as far and wide as I can to help others achieve a healthy life which a sprinkle of serenity on top!
