Starting my day without 30g of protein, bread and a coffee!!

Eeeeep 😳 my poor body (more like my poor mind).

For a split second, my brain went straight to:
blood sugar spikes, cortisol, missed protein targets, not training enough…

✨ full-blown high-achiever spiral ✨

And then I paused.

Because here’s the truth most women don’t need more rules about… they need regulation.

One “imperfect” meal doesn’t undo your health.

One carb-forward breakfast doesn’t derail fat loss.

And stressing about food will dysregulate your nervous system faster than the bread ever could.

🚨This update to the US food guidelines is LONG overdue 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

The previous system wasn’t just outdated, it actively normalised a way of eating that aligned far more with industrial food production than with human health (not to mention never had any real evidence to support it)

Low-fat.
High refined carbs.
Ultra-processed foods squeezed in under the banner of “balance.”

And we’ve spent decades watching metabolic health decline in real time.

What’s changed now matters because it finally acknowledges a simple truth:
the framework was wrong.

Wrong for the food environment we live in.
Wrong for long-term health.
Wrong for how humans actually thrive.

This new guidance marks a clear shift:

🥩 increased emphasis on protein, including red meat and dairy
🍚 lowered grain recommendations
🍫 stricter limits on added sugar
🥕 low-carb options recognised for metabolic health
🍪 ultra-processed foods explicitly called out

That alone is a massive course correction.

Does it get everything right? Not yet.

The saturated fat cap remains at 10%, and while that conversation is clearly starting to evolve, there’s still room for guidance to better reflect the nuance of whole-food fat sources within a real food diet.

But overall, this is a powerful reset.

A move away from nutrient maths and loopholes, and back toward something far more fundamental:

✔️ real food
✔️ food quality
✔️ less processing
✔️ guidance that reflects reality, not theory

That’s meaningful progress.
And it opens the door to better conversations, better education, and better outcomes… if we continue to build on it.

So many of the women I work with carry this quiet belief that they’re “starting from scratch” 😪

That because they didn’t grow up with balanced meals, home-cooked food, or parents who prioritised health, they’re somehow behind.

But here’s the truth I want you to really feel in your bones:

💛 You get to be the first generation that changes the story.

💛 You get to create the home where real food feels normal.

💛 Where slowing down to eat isn’t a luxury, it’s a rhythm.

💛 Where your kids see nourishment, connection, and presence modelled every single day.

💛 Where dinner becomes a moment of grounding instead of a chaotic afterthought.

Maybe you had this growing up.

Maybe you didn’t.

Either way… you’re the architect now.

Your choices become your family culture.
Your rituals become your nervous system’s baseline.

What I’m doing in my 30s so menopause in my 50s feels like a speed bump, not a plane crash:

1️⃣ Building muscle like it’s my retirement fund.
Muscle is metabolic insurance. It keeps your blood sugar stable, your hormones supported, and your body strong as you age.

2️⃣ Protecting my blood sugar daily.
Not because of weight, but because insulin, cortisol, thyroid, energy, skin, and brain health all depend on it.

3️⃣ Regulating my nervous system on purpose.
A dysregulated system is the fastest route to hormonal chaos. Safety = better sleep, better stress tolerance, better metabolism.

4️⃣ Supporting my liver + detox pathways.
Your liver is the CEO of hormone clearance. If it’s overworked in your 30s, oestrogen dominance hits hard later.

5️⃣ Nourishing my metabolism, not burning it out.
No under-eating. No punishment workouts. No “I’ll start fresh next year.” Consistency now is longevity later.

6️⃣ Expanding emotional capacity + boundaries.
Menopause magnifies whatever hasn’t been dealt with. Nervous system safety + self-trust = smoother transitions.

7️⃣ Running functional tests BEFORE symptoms scream.
Thyroid, insulin, cortisol, minerals… prevention is easier than repair.

Because the truth is:
Most women don’t “suddenly” struggle in their 40s and 50s. The crash landing starts years earlier.

You deserve a future where your hormones feel stable, your metabolism feels resilient, and your body supports the life you want.

There’s something sacred about the pause between years… that quiet moment where reflection becomes clarity and clarity becomes intention.

This past year stretched me, softened me, challenged me, and reshaped me in ways I didn’t see coming.

These aren’t cute one-liners, they’re the truths that carved me open and rebuilt me.

As I walk into 2026, these are the lessons I’m taking with me:

1️⃣ Action beats perfection every time.
Perfect kept me stuck. Showing up messy, real, in motion moved my life more than waiting to feel “ready” ever did.

2️⃣ Be the egg, not the s***m.
Regulated, receptive, intuitive energy is magnetic. I realised I don’t have to chase, I choose.

3️⃣ Your feelings create your reality.
Alignment isn’t conceptual, it’s emotional. When I opened the valve to joy, presence, gratitude… everything shifted.

4️⃣ Let go of the small things so you can rise into the big things.
I wasn’t lacking discipline, I was lacking focus. Busy isn’t effective. Refinement changed everything.

5️⃣ True evolution is choosing differently, again and again.
The work isn’t about being perfectly regulated, it’s catching the moment you drift and recalibrating.

6️⃣ People can only meet you where they are.
Not where you wish they’d be. Their capacity has nothing to do with your worth.

7️⃣ Your environment determines your expansion.
You rise faster in rooms where dreaming big is normal and delusion is celebrated.

8️⃣ You have the capacity for more than you could ever dream of
It wasn’t fear of failure, it was fear of success. My capacity had expanded, I just had to acknowledge it.

9️⃣ Your big dreams require you to be a little delulu.
Conviction in the absence of evidence is the common thread of every extraordinary woman I met this year.

🔟 Get comfortable in the uncomfortable.
Discomfort isn’t the barrier, it’s the invitation. The resistance you feel is proof you’re expanding.

Here’s to walking into 2026 with clarity, courage, softness, and a wildly expanded sense of what’s possible ✨
