Don’t even get me started on why doctors shouldn’t be giving out ‘nutrition’ or ‘weight loss’ advice if they’ve had no training whatsoever in this area

The idea this client should just ‘eat less’ is only going to cause further harm to her metabolism

Insulin resistance means she needs better blood sugar regulation.

It also explains why the weight isn’t shifting in the first place on a calorie deficit

What she needed was dietary and lifestyle changes that support her body getting back to being insulin sensitive...

Which is what we did through changing her nutrition and exercise HABITS - the way she was structuring her training and when + what she was eating

NOT HOW MUCH

Within 3 months her insulin score had dropped from 30 to 21, she’d dropped 10lbs, her cravings were completely gone, and she had healed her relationship with food (no more binging)!

We’re still working on getting her insulin + weight down to a healthier range, but her body is finally responding because we figured out what was actually going on!

Smoothie bowls, green juices and oat milk lattes aren’t doing the job you think they are...

I hear the frustration from clients when I talk to them for the first time.

Eating clean, working out and things are staying the same, but within seconds of hearing their food + day I can tell them exactly why they’re stuck.

The ‘healthy’ foods you’re eating are often loaded with natural sugars and driving blood sugar + cortisol spikes telling your body to hold weight

Eating plenty of nourishing protein, but not getting in your steps, or strength training or eating a whole avocado because it’s ‘good fats’ can also be stalling your metabolism

Sometimes there’s something deeper like a detoxification or nervous system issue, and other times we don’t realise the healthy foods we’re eating are just needing a simple restructure.

Try 30g protein at breakfast, not a blood sugar spiking juice (in fact aim for this every meal)

Get 7.5K steps in each day and make most of your plate fibre + protein (add fats and carbs after you’ve bulked out your meal)

Do your strength training, but make sure you have enough food going in, under eating is one of the quickest ways for the body to hold fat

And check your ‘healthy snacks’ those protein bars and bliss balls often have more sugar than just picking up a piece of fruit (plus a bunch of other nasty ingredients).

As a functional nutritionist I focus on far more than calories in and calories out with my clients, it’s also far deeper than food!

It’s about understanding your body and your biology.

I used to think skincare was mostly about what you put on your skin 😅🙈

Now I look at it very differently.

Skin is living tissue.
And living tissue reflects the environment inside your body.

Which means things like:

• inflammation
• blood sugar regulation
• circulation
• collagen signaling

all matter more than most people realise!

This is one of the reasons strength training 🏋🏼‍♀️ is such a non-negotiable in my world.

Not just for metabolism.
Not just for bone health.

But for long-term skin health and aging well 👏🏽

Because the goal was never just to look good in your 30s and 40s 💁🏼‍♀️

It’s to still look vibrant, strong, and radiant at 55, 65, and beyond ✨

And that requires thinking about beauty a little differently xo

Comment RESET ✨ for the exact 4 week framework to start seeing results!

There’s a few things to look out for when weight won’t shift and you just feel heavier in your body and don’t know why...

In my 10 years as a clinical nutritionist + coach I’ve found it typically is driven by 1 of 3 things

1️⃣ Detox system overloaded
2️⃣ Nervous system stuck in overdrive
3️⃣ Blood sugar dysregulation

This will drive inflammation, water retention and weight to stick no matter how much you exercise or count calories

Here’s where to start 👇🏽
1. Eat protein 🥩 with every main meal, I get my clients to aim for at least 30g to keep blood sugars stable, and satiety high (less cravings + fuller for longer)

2. Get 7.5K steps 👣 daily, your lymphatic system (detox + drainage system) only works if you move. Sedentary lifestyle keeps your toxins stuck = inflammation = puffiness

3. Eat leafy greens 🥬 at least 2 x per day, we’re often skipping one of the most important nutrients in our diets - fibre. This helps bowels move, drag toxins out and the micronutrients support a healthy metabolism (and also prevent cravings)

4. Lift weights 💪🏽 ladies this is a non-negotiable. It’s essential for insulin sensitivity (aka blood sugar balance), building muscle (your most metabolic organ), and also supports your lymphatic system

5. Ensure you’re having a daily bowel movement. Your body will retain estrogen and drive further inflammation and fluid retention and slow weight loss if you aren’t having at least one bowel movement a day
