Many of you know my story. Most of you probably do not…

I’ll share and then I want to hear from you.

Why do you do what you do?

At the core of every human is the desire to be seen, heard and understood.

I grew up in a broken home where I often felt unseen, unheard, and misunderstood. My environment was marked by dysfunction, where family was not a priority, and I learned early on to suppress my voice in the pursuit of perfection. I believed that if I could do everything flawlessly, I might earn the attention and validation I craved.

Yet, in that silence, I lost the ability to express my thoughts, my opinions, and my true self.

This longing for connection and the struggle to be heard planted the seeds for the work I do today.

I realized that my story was not meant to hold me back—it was meant to fuel my purpose. I took the lessons and learnings from those traumas and turned them into fuel that ignited my drive and determination to help others 10x their lives.

My journey into coaching began through personal training. As I helped people achieve their physical goals, I discovered something deeper: the power of empowering others to recognize their own strengths. It became clear that the same principles of growth and discipline that transformed bodies could transform businesses, relationships and lives.

I recognized how, when people tapped into their unique abilities and began using their voice, they not only achieved their goals but also created better opportunities for themselves and their families.

Over time through continued education and training, I expanded my work to coach high-level executives and leaders in leadership development, cultural transformation, health and wellness, and goal achievement. My mission became clear: to help others break free from limiting narratives, find their voice, and step fully into their potential in business, health, wealth and life.

Zig Ziglar’s quote is my daily mantra: “you can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”

This has been a heavy week.

The kind of week that reminds us how fragile life is, how quickly the world can shift, and how easy it is for fear, division, and pain to take center stage.

As leaders, entrepreneurs, and high achievers, we often rush to solutions. We push forward. We fix problems.

But sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause.

Pause long enough to listen.

Pause long enough to understand.

Pause long enough to see the human across from us before we see the differences between us.

Bridging the gap starts with conversations. It starts with creating a safe space at the table, in our workplaces, and in our homes. It starts with us - the leaders who are willing to model curiosity instead of judgment, empathy instead of assumption.

People are not going to remember our titles, our strategies, or even our wins nearly as much as they remember how we made them feel.

This week serves as a reminder to lead with courage, but also with compassion. Choose to be the one who slows down enough to see people around us. It’s about connection, and connections heal.

I recently coached two powerhouse leaders on a team of 8.

Both were visionary, adaptable, and full of energy - huge assets in their business.

But those same strengths were becoming liabilities.

Here’s why:
✔ They loved change and spontaneity (great for innovation)… but struggled to finish what they started.
✔ They thrived on variety (great for creativity)… but lacked structure and follow-through.
✔ They loved the spotlight (great for influence)… but sometimes competed instead of collaborating.

Overused strengths can become weaknesses, with a lack of awareness.

The same thing happens with health.
⚡ Being flexible with food choices is a strength—until it turns into “I’ll eat whatever today and start over Monday.”
⚡ Loving intensity in workouts is a strength—until it turns into injury from no recovery days.
⚡ Thriving on change is a strength—until it means jumping from diet to diet without consistency.

In leadership AND health, success requires this integration:
📈 Flexibility anchored by structure
📈 Big energy directed by discipline
📈 Freedom supported by accountability

Consider asking yourself:
What is a strength I’m proud of starting that may be working against me - in business, in health, or in a relationship?

Yes, emotions do have a place at work.

Too often, I see leaders with a mindset of “leave emotions out of it.” But emotions are what drive connection, trust, and performance. Ignore them, and you limit your leadership impact.

I recently worked with the CEO of an insurance firm who scored low in emotional support on an E3 assessment. This isn’t a bad thing—it simply means that his natural wiring doesn’t default to emotional expression. However, several of his employees were high in emotional support. So the question becomes, how do we effectively bridge that gap in communication?

Here’s where the gap showed up:
The leader thought, “I’m supporting them by letting them do their job without interference.”
The employees thought, “He doesn’t care about me or my work.”

Once we uncovered this difference in wiring and business "love languages," we created a plan for the leader to connect in ways that mattered to the employees. Specific acts of service, small gestures of help, and intentional check-ins. The shift in trust and motivation was almost immediate.

This process and coaching allowed him to:
⭐ See himself and his employees more clearly
⭐ Improve communication & resolve conflict
⭐ Shift and build a culture that his people want to be part of
⭐ Accelerate business growth

When leaders understand the human side of performance, the result is a win/win...for the leader, the team, and the business.

In a session with a client last week who is dealing with some team challenges, I asked, have you thought about restructuring the way you start your team meetings?

How many meetings have you been a part of or even led that started with a focus on what needs to be fixed?

We’ve all heard it. Some of us have said it.

But how is that working?

What you lead with shapes the room. How you begin something often determines how you finish it.

Mindset is contagious. Words direct energy.

Our minds naturally seek patterns. When we recognize success early in a conversation, we create an unconscious connection to winning and position our teams to do more of it. When we begin by recognizing what’s working, we create momentum, connection, and confidence.

When we start with what’s broken, we unconsciously anchor the conversation in deficit and dysfunction.

This simple shift can redirect a team that is out of sync and off course.

This doesn’t mean we ignore problems; it means we approach them from a position of strength and opportunity.

The power is in creating an unconscious connection with success — and doing more of it.
⭐ What is going well?
⭐ What behaviors moved the needle?
⭐ How can we replicate and scale that?

I have seen this mindset shift work in the boardroom and on the field.
In the collegiate baseball world over the past 4 years with App State - these athletes don’t walk onto the field focused on every mistake from the last game. They use that as a platform for acceleration.

They warm up with what worked. They visualize a strong start. They get their heads right before the first pitch. Because they know: how you begin is how you finish.
