Sally Trussler Movement, Rehab & Mind Coach Movement coach - helping you to find solutions to current injuries or long term chronic pain issues

I spent much of my 20s in the Alps and Rockies, working ski seasons, but it was on a Whistler summer season where I found my passion – mountain biking. Since then I have been hitting the trails on a regular basis, and racing in Downhill, Gravity Enduro and 24 hour events. You’ll also find me out on the road bike, and have even travelled around Iceland and Morocco on two wheels. I am also a very keen runner, and a member of the Southville Running Club. I have competed in numerous 10km, half marathons, adventure races and the Thunderrun – as a last minute stand-in, I ended up running a marathon. This obsession with sport, led me to an interest in how the body works, initially through sports massage and personal training, and now in specialist musculo-skeletal practices such as Anatomy In Motion and NeuroKineticTherapy.

Spent an incredible day yesterday with the amazing Helen Hall ⭐

If you don't know who Helen is, you can listen to the podcast she did with Dr Chatterjee or buy Helen's book.

This lady bowled me over with her knowledge and understanding of anatomy and movement.

We've become so good at 'separating' all of 'ourselves'. We see someone for our mental health issues, someone for our stomach issues, someone different for our back issues, someone different for our headaches, someone different for our foot issues... everything seemingly 'separate'.

But all of these 'issues' live in the same canister - us. This living, breathing, moving blob of cells. Nothing is separate.

I kind of knew this, but had no real understanding of this until I spent the day with Helen yesterday.

So, today marks another learning curve in my journey of helping people move better. As always, pain is a terrible indicator of where the problem is....

Wow, it's shocking to see how bad I was a few days ago...😳 I won't lie, was pretty scared. But when I called my mentor, he said 'right, let's get to work'. I thought moving without pain wasn't possible. Turns out I was wrong. I did 2 stupid basic movements. Probably barely 2 reps of each. And the change was incredible. Now, this isn't a one size fits all prescription. These moves were based on my body, my injury history, what my body needed to feel safe. This will be different for everyone. But the process is the same. Assess. Don't guess. Every injury I've had leads to more and more learning about how incredible our bodies are... and this one was no different 🙏🙌

2 Day workshop in Dublin with David Grey.

What a great weekend - so good to be back in the classroom.

Main takeaways about my own body:

* I can't hinge my hips for sh .
* I struggle to collect internal rotation and push through the ground on my left leg.
* You don't need any equipment or a gym to build tension through the leg to get huge movement potential and strength in your legs.
(understanding biomechanics of gait and especially the foot IS KEY)

This information was great in helping really get to the main reasons so many cyclists have painful knees and backs when riding...

Elbows can be a right pain to rehab!

A simple thing you can do right now to assess the movement of your elbow is to see where you are moving from - the wrist end or the elbow end?!

Both feel very different. Can you do both?
