Good news! It's found that the harmful METABOLIC effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup can be REVERSED in as little as nine days by limiting intake. Read labels and you'll see that many PROCESSED foods contain HFCS.

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) can lead to insulin resistance, obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and can impair dopamine function which may contribute to compulsive eating. What is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)? HFCS is made by processing corn starch to change its sugars from glucose to fructose. It became a popular replacement for table sugar in the 1980s because it was less expensive.

HFCS can negatively affect the mitochondria in our cells by impairing their function, leading to reduced energy production, increased oxidative stress, and potentially contributing to metabolic diseases like fatty liver disease. HFCS is like poison to a cell's powerhouse.

Trying to cut back on sugar? Choose NATURALLY occurring sugars (like found in fruit) versus ADDED sugars (like found in processed foods) since they come with the nice bonus of nutritional benefits and dietary fiber. It's been recommended to limit ADDED sugar intake to no more than 10% of your daily energy intake. For most adults, that is about 50 grams of sugar based on a 2,000-calorie diet. Added sugar is generally found in sugar-sweetened processed foods like candy, soft drinks, bread, sauces, fast foods, canned fruits, ketchup, spaghetti sauce. There are 4 types of sugar:
