Dustin's Dream

Dustin's Dream Dustin Lee Chamberlain was a Sophomore at Baylor University, majoring in Biology and pre-med when he left this world as we know it for his Heavenly Home.

Our Mission: Sharing the transformational love of God by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of at-risk individuals and families in Guatemala and beyond. On December 15, 2011, after just returning home for Christmas break, Dustin was tragically shot and killed during a home invasion. Dustin was actively involved in the MSO (Medical Service Organization), AMSA (American Medical Ser

vice Organization), and the Bear Pit (a basketball spirit organization) at Baylor University. He attended Harris Creek Baptist Church in McGregor, TX. Dustin’s dream was to be involved in the medical field as well as participate in mission trips abroad or at home. Students at Baylor remember Dustin as a mighty man of God, an encourager, studious, and genuinely kind. When students questioned Dustin as to how he could consistently make wise choices and stand firm in his faith, Dustin would reply, “Because I love God with all my heart and I don’t want to give Him less than my best.”

Prior to his time at Baylor, Dustin attended Siloam Springs High School where he was a vital member of the basketball, cross country and golf programs. Dustin also participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring program, and was an Arkansas Scholar. Dustin graduated in May 2010 with 4.0 GPA. At 20 years of age, Dustin’s work here on earth was accomplished. And while our family has struggled to understand God’s sovereignty, love, and perfect will, God has proven Himself to us over and over again. Our desire is that Dustin’s Dream will be a successful organization that will share God’s love in a dark and hurting world, and that Dustin’s legacy will continue to impact souls for Christ.

A glimpse into this week at the Freedom House: While some of the men worked on the walls and others helped with roofing, the day was also filled with worship and a powerful gospel message from Pastor Saúl. It was a meaningful time of service, connection, and spiritual growth.

We had a great night of worship at the peregrinos service and feeding 🙌🏼 49 people - men, women, and children - heard the gospel and were fed! Please pray that as seeds are planted, they fall on fertile soil.

In case you missed it, we got to hear from Kim Van Veen in the August edition of our newsletter. Kim was a team member from Grace Community Church who was on the February 2025 medical mission trip. Kim speaks Spanish fluently, and here you can see her using that gift to intercede in prayer on behalf of this young family during one of our travel clinic days. Kim shares about her experience participating in the Sunday morning youth class at Iglesia Bautista Cristo es El Camino.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” - Matthew 25:35-36

This photo was taken by one of our recent mission trip team members () at the peregrinos service and feeding. It never escapes us how something so simple as a single warm meal can be such a tangible representation of God’s generosity and provision. We delight in getting to care for the people He has placed in our path, both big and small 🤍
