Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) had shown great therapeutic potential for tissue damage repair. Moreover, the use of MSCs in liver preservation also shown great therapeutic potential. In this review, we present current literature regarding different strategies for in vitro liver preservation and investigate the potential application of MSCs and derived EVs as an innovative therapeutic tool to precondition grafts before transplantation as well as to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Abstract. Liver transplantation is the only effective treatment for end-stage liver disease. Currently, the shortage of high-quality donors has led to the explo

NIH researchers work to preserve fertility for people undergoing gene therapy

Researchers at NIH have created a novel gene therapy procedure that could preserve fertility in people with sickle cell disease and other genetic blood conditions.

The present study systematically summarizes the evidence on using all types of allogeneic cells relevant to the neonatal period in term and preterm infants from published and ongoing studies. The results show some evidence of the safety and feasibility of certain types of mesenchymal cells and highlight the lack of efficacy data for all the cell types. These findings suggest further research on a broader population of allogeneic cells is required, particularly emphasizing their efficacy related to the predominant morbidities that require therapeutic intervention in the neonatal period.

AbstractBackground. Neonatal cell therapy applications are increasing; however, data on allogeneic cell therapy are limited.Objective. To summarize evidence on

MSCs exhibit therapeutic potential in MetS-related disorders. Gene editing, pretransplant pretreatment, and combination therapy have been applied to bolster the therapeutic potency of autologous or allogeneic MSCs.

Abstract. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs), a class of cells with proliferative, immunomodulatory, and reparative functions, have shown therapeutic potenti

Researchers have used heart and lung stem cells infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, to better understand how the disease impacts different organs. Responses varied significantly depending on the cell type, allowing the team to identify effective antiviral drugs to treat infection in these organs specifically, thus paving the way to more targeted treatment.

Researchers have used heart and lung stem cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 to find more targeted treatments for COVID-19. The virus, they find, has different effects in different cell types.

Scientists from the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center have developed a new method to bioprint miniature tumor organoids that are designed to mimic the function and architecture of real tumors. The improved process allows researchers to use an advanced imaging method to study and analyze individual organoids in great detail, which can help researchers identify personalized treatments for people with rare or hard-to-treat cancers.

Researchers develop new way to grow and measure how tumor organoids respond to therapy.
