August is Home Visiting Month! Did you know that our Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) supports moms and babies through home visits?

Last year, our MIHP team completed nearly 1,000 home visits to support healthy pregnancies and a healthy first year for babies! 💜

MIHP social workers, nurses, and dietitians work together to provide supportive services for pregnant women and infants up to 12 months old who have Medicaid insurance.

If you're pregnant or have an infant and you have Medicaid, call 734-544-2984 to get connected to . Learn more at washtenaw.org/mihp.

Set yourself up for a productive and protective school year! 🤓⏱📚✏️

If you have (or plan on having) multiple s*x partners, don’t always use condoms/barriers, or had an STI in the past 6 months, PrEP could be a great option for you.

PrEP is a medication that can prevent HIV. You can take it as a daily pill or, if you’re not into remembering to take medicine every day, you can get it as a shot every other month. Plus, it’s easy to get free or low-cost PrEP.

Give yourself some protection, prevention, and peace of mind - you can talk with your provider or make an appointment at the Washtenaw County Health Department to get you on ! Learn more at washtenaw.org/s*xualhealth

Independence Lake beach (3200 Jennings Rd, Whitmore Lake) is currently closed for swimming due to high levels of E. coli bacteria.

Although the public beach at Independence Lake is closed to swimming, other forms of recreation that do not involve body contact with the water, like fishing, are permitted.

The high levels were detected through routine testing. The closure is effective immediately and will remain in effect until follow-up tests show the levels are considered safe for swimming.

Updates will be posted on our website. More info: https://bit.ly/indy723
