The Hands of Hope Center is a vocational training and education center for the deaf in Laos. Founded with a strong vision to uplift and empower deaf individuals, HOH provides education, life skills, and job training for children, youth, and adults who are deaf. Since its establi

shment in 2016, the center has grown into a safe and supportive community where deaf people can learn, express themselves, and develop their talents. The center offers classes in Lao Sign Language, reading and writing, computer skills, and various vocational training programs. HOH also works to raise awareness about deaf culture and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. 🌟 09.09.2025 — A Historic Day for the Deaf in Laos 🌟
On September 9, 2025, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the Hands of Hope Vocational Training Center for the Deaf — the very first center of its kind in Laos. 🎉💙
The event was honored by the presence of the Head of Xaythany District, the head of our village, and representatives from the Vocational Education Development Institute (VEDI), Ministry of Education and Sports. We were also joined by the Association for the Deaf, the Disability Service Center, the Lao Disabled People’s Association, the Blind Vocational Training Center, the Hands of Hope School for the Deaf, as well as many NGOs and organizations. Their presence and support made this day truly meaningful and historic for the Deaf community in Laos. 🙌
This center is not just a building — it is a place of hope, knowledge, and opportunity. Here, deaf people will learn skills for their livelihood, gain confidence, and prepare for a future filled with dignity and independence. 🌱✨

🌟 July Update from Hands of Hope Vocational Training Center 🌟

This month has been so special for all of us.

Since the day we opened the center, we have seen many deaf people come with no ability to read, write, or sign. They couldn’t communicate with others. Life was very hard for them.

But now, after just a few months, everything is starting to change. 💙

✨ They are learning sign language.
✨ They can read and write in Lao.
✨ They can communicate and express themselves.

This is a big step. Step by step, they are improving. Step by step, they are building a better future. 🙏

In July, our students also learned:
💻 Basic computer and IT skills
📘 Lao reading and writing
🧏‍♀️ Basic sign language
🌱 Farming, gardening, and handmade crafts

We are very proud of how far they have come. And we know they will go even further.

On June 25, the Hands of Hope Vocational Training Center for the Deaf was filled with happiness as our students got the opportunity to explore new experiences in learning about hair cutting and makeup.
For many of our students, this was their first time learning these skills. They were excited to try hair cutting, styling, and practicing basic makeup techniques. These skills will not only build their confidence but also open up new career opportunities in the future.
