The Hannah Winthrop Chapter was organized in June 1894 and reorganized in February 2019.

All women, 18 years and older, who descend from Revolutionary War Patriots are eligible to join DAR.

Congratulations to Hannnah Winthrop Chapter member Reese who was elected as National President of the National Society Children of the American Revolution this past weekend! We are proud of Reese and her dedicated leadership and service.

About the N.S.C.A.R.: The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic youth organization in our country. Membership is open to descendants of patriots of the American Revolution. Members gain valuable leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates and speaking before groups at local, state and national conferences. The responsibility and privilege of selecting officers helps members gain an understanding of the democratic process.

The Hannah Winthrop Chapter gathered in Boston’s North End for our annual holiday luncheon to celebrate 2024, a magnificent year of service and friendship. As a service project, we collected gift cards, which will be distributed to female veterans during the holiday season through the New England Center and Home for Veterans. It’s an honor to support our female veterans. 🇺🇸

Today, Hannah Winthrop Chapter members joined Massachusetts DAR to celebrate Abigail Adams’ 280th birthday with an America 250! Patriots Marker dedication ceremony at Heritage Park in Weymouth, MA. Happy birthday, Abigail! 🇺🇸

Our September chapter meeting was held at the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown, MA, where we welcomed two new prospective members. Following the business meeting, we enjoyed the “Anatomy of Victory” guided tour which highlighted the design, teamwork and people involved in “Old Ironsides.” Today and every day, we remember the military men and women who bravely served our Nation aboard “Old Ironsides” and beyond. 🇺🇸

Recently, chapter members were delighted to attend the Massachusetts DAR Fall State Meeting. The weekend was filled with educational workshops, luncheon and banquet speakers, state officer and committee reporting, and more. One of the highlights was Organizing Secretary General Nancy Schirm Wright's keynote address "So You Want to Build a Stronger Chapter." And special shout out to chapter member and District II Director Melissa for organizing the table decor for this meeting -- everything looked beautiful!

Vive Lafayette! Today, Hannah Winthrop Chapter members and friends participated in the Lafayette Bicentennial Celebration in Boston to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s 1824 and 1825 Farewell Tour of America. Following the festivities, we enjoyed a delicious meal together at a local brewery. Thank you to all who joined us today!

Our chapter members recently celebrated "Stars & Stripes Forever" at NSDAR Continental Congress 2024 at DAR Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Members volunteered on Congress Committees and attended business sessions, evening programs, luncheons and meetings to hear about the work of our National Society. Sincere thanks to DAR President General Pamela Wright, the Executive Committee, the DAR Staff and all the volunteers who assisted with Congress. See you next year in D.C.!🇺🇸
