ACPA is pleased to announce Ron Hathaway, DDS, MS as the 2026 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

His ACPA service has included leadership roles as President, Treasurer, and multiple committee chairmanships. He has been a mentor to countless dental students and ACPA members over the years. Access to education shouldn’t be a barrier to becoming a nurse, social worker, speech therapist, or public health professional.

The Department of Education’s proposed definition of “professional degree program” currently excludes many essential health and service fields — which could limit federal student loan access for students pursuing these careers.

At a time when we need more trained professionals in cleft and craniofacial care and other critical services, this policy could move us in the wrong direction.

🗣️ Public comments are open through March 2.

Speak up and urge the Department to include these essential professions.

We’re proud to share that ACPA has renewed our partnership with myFace, a nonprofit organization with a 75-year legacy of supporting individuals with facial differences and their families. 💙

Together, ACPA and myFace will work to remove barriers to accessing live educational programs for both professionals and families. We’ll also collaborate on new educational initiatives, raise awareness of craniofacial differences, and cross-promote resources that support our shared community.

Stronger together—for providers, for families, and for every individual we serve.
