Hearing the words as my guests were leaving was the gift of Christmas.

"That was the best Christmas I have ever had,"

spoken by an 80-year-old family member who I had not seen for over 40 years until recently.

This touched my heart with the magic that festivities provide.

When they arrived on Christmas Eve, our holiday spirit was put to the test when all of their luggage was locked in the trunk of the car and refused to open.

Despite the stress, solutions emerged with SOS calls.

I noticed a white feather through the cracks, the angels were with us and the heroic dismantling of the back seat by one of my mechanic clients saved the day.

Will forever be grateful to him for putting down his Guinness pint to help us in need.

Festivities could now commence, honouring both old and new traditions.

My beloved father, who loved the festive season, too busy trying to keep him alive, we never discussed his place of rest.

So in recent years, each Christmas, brings me happiness as he still returns as Santa, a source of pride and joy, watching over us from under the tree.

And this year, Pomegranate juice emerged as a household hit, tantalising taste sensations while also acting as a mast cell blocker for health.

Here's to 🥂

the resilience of family bonds,
the joy of reconnection,
the past and present of loved ones
and
always finding solutions and creating new experiences.........

Cheers to health and cherished moments in 2024 to you all 🥂

I've seen several posts commemorating abandonment, sobriety anniversaries, or simply pondering the impact of that one word, "alcohol."

Many of these posts tend to paint alcohol in a negative light –

calling it evil, a poison, a health wrecker, addictive, a family legacy of pain, a soul thief, a liver destroyer, a financial black hole, a relationship killer, a coping mechanism, a symbol of weakness, and more.

💫

Growing up in a household marred by severe alcoholism and witnessing the devastation it wrought upon my family through physical and mental abuse, one might assume I would readily endorse these sentiments.

Surprisingly, I DON’T except for one word that does hold some truth: "Weak."

It intrigued me because I couldn't reconcile how, on one hand, my mother appeared so feeble, yet on the other, displayed tremendous strength.

A mere sip would instantaneously transform her personality, setting off a troubling chemical reaction that turned her into a monstrous version of herself.

Rehab after rehab, nothing changed and in some instances made very much worse.

But whilst still under the influence, she became a psychotherapist and spent decades traveling alone in India to find her own redemption, trips only for the brave.

💫

However, her struggles didn't deter me from enjoying the pleasures of alcohol now and again.

I had my fair share of revelry, earning the nickname "shot queen" at one point.

Yet, strangely, I didn't turn to it as a crutch during other turbulent times in my life.

This paradox ignited my curiosity and led me on a quest for answers in order to repair a very damaged relationship.

Why can some individuals consume alcohol and remain functional, while others experience a volatile chemical reaction?

💫

In my mother's case, it was attributed to grief, ptsd and a disease, but when I stumbled upon the fascinating world of the immune system and the gut microbiome – the architects of our happiness, this made more sense.

The diversity of gut microbes dictates our food cravings when we're stressed.

Survival and growth require particular foods or substances for these tiny organisms.

For my mother, it showed, heavy metal toxicity decreased her stomach acid, causing her to seek alcohol and sugar to fight yeast overgrowth.

Our gut requires acidity for the gut-brain axis to produce dopamine, among other vital functions.

💫

So what we crave isn't merely a whim of the mind; it's a directive from the microorganisms residing within you.

These organisms have their demands and preferences, and they're not shy about letting us know.

Without addressing stressors or gut microorganisms, you'll always be wrestling with willpower.

Over many years, I've worked with countless clients struggling with food or drink cravings as a way to cope with their physical or emotional pain.

But every time when we focus and address gut-immune health, those cravings quiet down and hormonal balance is restored.

A sudden urge to fill an emotional void with unhealthy choices disappears.

💫

In my limited work with my mother, elevating her stomach acid levels and detoxifying her system from heavy metals made a fundamental difference.

She now has willpower, take it or leave it, enjoying a drink on occasions, without experiencing an allergic chemical reaction from just a sip

– this is such a MASSIVE SIGNIFICANT VICTORY, bringing tears and joy to my soul.

💫

So, instead of solely blaming alcohol, other foods, your lack of willpower or past trauma, ask yourself "why?"

Your cravings have a deeper story, and understanding it empowers you to take control of your future success.

Remember, we are not stuck with our struggles – IT’S A CHOICE

We live in an incredible time where healing is within reach.

Evolving rapidly, we're learning better ways to heal and grow.

The old, painful methods are becoming obsolete.

We no longer have to suffer unnecessarily.

The path to healing is easier than we are led to believe ♥️

They say that bad things happen in threes, but life has a way of proving those clichés wrong.

So far this year, I’ve dealt, with the help of the police, a relentless unknown stalker, rats devouring my car and my mum being hospitalized for a month.

Then we had an illegal rave a few fields away from home.

Now I don’t mind a good rave, love to dance but……..

the ground was shaking and helicopters circling, my little shetland pony, was traumatised and got injured in the process.

Thankfully I was able to treat him quickly.

Yet, amidst this chaos, there was one burden that weighed on me more heavily than the rest.

Molly, my four-legged fur baby doggie, is just four years old.

At first, it seemed trivial—a phantom pregnancy and a subtle change in one of her eye colours.

It was easy to dismiss amidst the more pressing issues that demanded my attention.

Months passed, and her eye remained unchanged, neither better nor worse.

Then, a day came when a roe deer charged at Molly while we were playing ball in a nearby field.

She managed to escape, but the obstruction of a bush kept me from seeing if there was actual contact.

Molly seemed shaken but unharmed, showing no signs of visible injury.

However, soon after, she started incessantly scratching her neck, revealing a nasty skin infection.

This could have been a result of the stress from the deer incident or perhaps an attack by mites or a deer bite/impact.

I immediately set to work treating the rash, which cleared up at the site but migrated to her eye.

Her eye turned into a cloudy, blue-white orb of infection.

Molly's behavior hadn't changed significantly, but the sight of her deteriorating eye terrified me.

So decided to consult a Vet.

The Vet conducted tests, revealing that her cornea was unharmed, but her eye pressure was off the charts, exceeding 40mmHg—far beyond the normal range of 10 to 25mmHg, indicating glaucoma.

To my shock, the vet suggested removing her eye urgently,

I hadn't revealed my occupation at this point, but questioned his diagnosis.

Could it be parasites, rat poison, gut microbiome issues, or even head trauma?

He dismissed these possibilities, insisting that the eye was a self-contained mechanism and these things couldn't cause such high pressure.

Skeptical, I didn't push back but knew, wearing my functional medicine and neurology hat, that this couldn't be the whole truth.

A mere ten-minute consultation for £140 with a radical solution costing thousands of pounds.

That night, I gave her the antibiotic eye drops along with my own remedies, and by morning, there was a noticeable improvement.

I spoke with the vet again on the phone, who apparently consulted an ophthalmologist, and that based on the test results, they both agreed that removing her eye was the only option.

This was the moment I decided to challenge him, and after a respectful exchange, we reached an agreement that I was going to look at this more holistically and of course if Molly's condition didn't improve, we would consider the drastic solution.

I continued the antibiotic treatment for two days whilst also transitioning her gut health and immune system.

My approach was to understand the "WHY" behind her condition rather than merely treating the symptom.

It wasn't coincidental that her eye changed color during her phantom pregnancy, indicating hormone related or developed an infection after the deer encounter.

However, the story ends on a positive note.

Nurturing her immune system and gut while addressing her eye symptoms.

Along the way, a hematoma appeared in her eye, confirming some sort of impact from the deer or prior, which then managed to disperse.

I am thrilled to report that her eye pressure is now within the normal range, and after two months, her eye looked healthy and back to the subtle change in eye colour and has continued to remain in good health.

Whether her eye colour returns to its former shade remains uncertain, but the risk of blindness has diminished.

This tale serves as a reminder that while I hold deep respect for allopathic medicine, life often exists in shades of grey rather than just black and white and we have to look at all elements.

Rushing into invasive and dramatic procedures without fully understanding the "why" behind a condition can be unnecessary.

Join the dots, everything is connected, nothing happens in isolation.

By prioritizing gut and immune health should always be one of the first steps, by decreasing the pressure of inflammation in humans and animals.

But a lesson learned and something I always advise clients but ignored my own advice on this occasion…………

Before you hear your body scream, listen to its whispers and take action 😊

Pain is often a signal, a plea from our bodies for us to listen.

In most cases, the pain isn't a result of physical hardware malfunctions—bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

It's a software issue, a misalignment within our nervous system caused by the inner workings of our microbiome or emotional wellbeing.

Our bodies strive to keep us going, but eventually, they cry out in pain as a last resort.

In the heart of healing, there's a profound lesson we can all take from these pictures of change, that my client has kindly allowed me to share with his story.

First treated him about 10 yrs ago, for chronic tennis elbow that he hadn’t been able to resolve despite various different treatment methods over several years.

The key was in his history.

He had been severely electrocuted that had affected his whole central nervous system, breathing and grip.

We treated these primary sources, his elbow unlocked and was pain free within a few sessions.

Then over the years, he would get bouts of lower back pain that would seek assistance for.

One of the things I would always note was his posture.

The curvature of his midsection.

It used to be far more severe than the 1st image.

Regardless, we’d get him out of pain and improve posture somewhat but not entirely.

This was presented as an internal problem, his body moving away from his liver.

His gut-immune system needed resolving to create longevity and optimum health.

This however, wasn’t a priority for the client, as long as he was out of pain, he was content.

The last session lasted 3yrs with no issues and not having to see him.

I then got a message a short while ago, “I really need sorting, prepared to do whatever it takes.”

He had just gone through months of stress.

Starting with a bladder infection and progressing through different tests and procedures, doctors were 99% certain he had prostate cancer.

Fortunately, there is always 1%.

We resolved his back and hip pain in a couple of sessions that had been triggered by the stress.

Lower back pain is very rarely a back problem.

He then enrolled and started my gut-immune program treating the root causes.

When beginning a healing journey, one can go through a herx/detox reaction.

Those who have a malabsorption problem may be more provoked in the early phases when things change.

His back pain came back.

The photos are before and after the session.

This time his body was much more receptive as we were doing the inner work.

For the first time his body was more aligned.

This journey serves as a potent reminder of why understanding the source of one's pain is paramount.

It's a lesson etched in the fabric of our bodies, a whisper that our physical well-being is intimately connected to the intricate dance of many systems.

This story is a testament to the power of understanding and addressing the multifaceted puzzle of pain.

It's a journey towards longevity, towards healing.

Today, this client is finally on the path to rediscovering his true vitality.

Are you waiting for a shock diagnosis to make a change?

The truth about……boosting your immune system......

and understanding TH1 'Catabolic' and TH2 'Allergic' immune responses for a resilient immune system

Ever wondered why that glass of wine or late-night snack affects more than just your mood?

Alcohol, processed foods, lack of exercise or too much exercise and long term emotional stress can impact our immune system in a negative way, whilst short/sharp adrenaline stress response ‘fight or flight’ can help in a positive way.

Enter the stage: T cell helpers, the mighty immune warriors and their importance for battling any virus or health issues.

Their roles include directly killing infected host cells, activating other immune cells, producing cytokines and regulating the immune response.

With Functional Medicine hat on, and in my gut-immune health program we work specifically with T cell immunity……….

At some point in the womb or after birth we expose ourselves to our first immune system ‘insult’.

This could be anything from a head knock to a food that’s been introduced sooner than it should have been, to a vaccination or our first viral infection.

Anything that has alerted our immune system has the potential to be this original insult.

This original insult will drive us down a certain immune pathway and this, for the most part, will become our dominant immune pathway for life.

The further we travel down our own immune pathway with other triggers of heavy stressors, toxins or emotional trauma, the greater and more abundant one’s symptoms may become stuck.

There are four main immune pathways, TH1, TH2, TH17 and Treg.

Two of the most common pathways are what we call TH1 and TH2.

A TH1 dominant system will release T cell helper 1 when it is threatened under stress.

It is what we call the ‘Catabolic’ immune system.

A TH1 system is more likely to get fever, night sweats, recurrent infections, recurrent niggles or injuries. Miscarriages, poor sleep, poor muscle gain and pro-inflammatory/swelling/edema.

May experience ‘allergies’ but this is more related to sensitivities or intolerances as a result of ‘leaky gut’ - a result of the high cortisol production associated with this pathway that breaks down the lining of the gut.

A TH2 dominant system will release T cell helper 2 when it is threatened under stress.

It is what we call the ‘Allergic’ immune system.

A TH2 system will have allergies of varying forms - hay fever-type issues, allergies to cats, dogs, grasses, dust, bees, foods and more.

May experience, eczema, anti-inflammatory response, Endometriosis/Ovarian Cysts/ Fibroids and SIBO. May also have acid reflux (brought about by the immune system and called ‘allergic reflux’) and/or asthma.

However, when we look at immune pathways, certain healthy or unhealthy things can make health/symptoms worse……..

If you suffer with recurrent infections, niggles or injuries (TH1) for instance, things like Echinacea, liquorice, lectins will make your symptoms worse.

If you suffer from allergies (TH2) for instance, things like turmeric, onions, berries, caffeine will make your symptoms worse.

Determining your immune type is essential to figuring out how to counteract your health problems and create homeostasis so that when another ‘insult’ arises, our system is able to respond in a more effective way to protect ones health

In my gut-immune health program one of the things we seek to find…..

🍀The immune system dominance;
👍The root causes driving the immune system
🍀Create Immune reset protocol

Our health is the most important thing in life………….

and cells cannot be in DEFENCE and GROWTH at the same time.

How are you treating your immune cells, what part are they playing in your health to counteract viruses?

Does yours need rebalancing?

Getting frequent colds, feeling run down, infections, allergic reactions or intolerances to foods or reoccurring niggles/injuries?

Step into the world of today, where AI captures your essence in images, leaving you flattered yet slightly concerned.

As AI's popularity soars, the line between real and fake becomes ever more elusive.

Amid the social media frenzy, distinguishing fact from fiction is a skill we all need to master.

Nestled in the health & wellness industry for nearly two decades, the realm of social media marketing uncovers a new dimension.

A dimension where pain, frustration, and controversy flow through posts like a river.

Now my SM media has opened up, I regularly see posts on my news feed, people share posts seeking advice on various issues like dietary, supplements, detoxes, parasites, stomach complaints, weight loss or physical or emotional pain.

It's alarming how easily we grab onto quick fixes without understanding the underlying reasons, especially when it comes to our health.

Are those questions we stumble upon genuine cries for help or mere attempts at algorithm interaction or profit?

It does concern me, we grasp for instant solutions without understanding the "why" behind the issue, a pattern particularly striking in the realm of health.

If faced with health issues, would you place your trust solely in social media's hands?

Seeking help from a professional is the right approach.

Too many individuals are opting for quick fixes, which, let's be honest, rarely delivers lasting results.

In fact, they can often worsen our health problems because we're not addressing the root causes.

Me, personally, would never sign up for a health program offered by someone who lacks proper qualifications in that field.

This scares me, as I've noticed a trend among startup entrepreneurs who have overcome health challenges and now want to share and sell their solutions.

While I absolutely admire their journey, here's the kicker:

Triumph doesn't magically confer expertise and is capable of healing others with similar issues.

Health is complex and individual, and there's no one-size-fits-all solution and creating a business from one's own ill health experience doesn't necessarily translate to effectively addressing other people's health concerns.

Our bodies are designed to heal, but we need the right tools and knowledge.

That's why I emphasize treating each person's health concerns uniquely, based on their symptoms and history, not just a label of a diagnosis.

Don’t get me wrong, research is valuable, but it can also be overwhelming and misleading.

My focus is on authenticity and cutting through the sea of misinformation.

The tendency to compartmentalize, label, and seek quick solutions often falls short.

Even with extensive training, qualifications, and nearly 15yrs clinical experience, I refuse to be confined by labels, especially when it involves people's well-being.

I consider all aspects of every client's situation to find real solutions and treat the person as a whole.

Everything is connected, the right support, right process, treating the right pathway in the right order with the right supplementation are crucial.

Here's the bottom line: the realm of health demands more.

It craves the touch of experts, those well-versed in the delicate symphony of well-being.

Be it physical pain, emotional strife, or the labyrinth of gut health, don't hesitate to reach out.

For in this dance with healing, truthfulness becomes your guiding star, a beacon of light in the sea of virtual confusion 🤩

Two clients, each ready to spend more than £20,000 for surgery -
One of them did.

Fortunately, both escaped trouble.

One surgeon went missing (awol), while the other stayed truthful.

This is the tale of two clients I've recently begun working with:

Client 1, for 2yrs was subjected to excruciating electric shocks on his tongue. After consulting with multiple professionals, he was diagnosed with unusual trigeminal neuralgia.

With no answers, exploratory brain surgery was the given option. It was coming up to the Christmas season, thankfully the surgeon disappeared.

After speaking with a medicine specialist, client was told, "You will be a good guinea pig for my book."

The pain relievers transformed him into a zombie who couldn't function.

We started working together with functional neurology.
At the same time, also under investigation for high PSA levels, prostate.

Then a ladder collapsed under him, falling 15ft, leading to significant head trauma, which we have also been dealing with.

But all three have one thing in common: a gut-immune problem.

Connecting the dots, the discomfort in his tongue indicated a liver issue, high PSA levels also indicated a liver problem, and parasites are one of the leading causes of prostate cancer and any head trauma, ALWAYS ALWAYS creates gut trauma.

Despite all this, so far we have managed to get him completely off all his meds bar one, the main drug but reduced by half with no repercussions and heading in the right direction.

Client 2, year-long back pain, neural symptoms down both legs. 4 main flare-ups and ended up in A&E each time.

Scans and meds were all that were on offer, with spinal fusion surgery if necessary.

The pain was so bad after the last flare up, they paid and with a two week wait, decided to walk bent over until that time, as that was the only alleviating position for the neural pain.

All gowned up on the surgery table, thankfully the surgeon’s question regarding neural pain – shattered the prelude to an operation.

The neural pain had gone, with the way he had been walking.
Bye-bye surgery, money back, hello physical therapy to get him moving upright.

After three sessions, the back discomfort was entirely gone, and he was able to return to work painting and decorating.

We found the back problem to actually be a hip problem.

What caused the hip problem, unraveled other underlying health issues as the route cause.

His pain was replaced with a rash, double vision, shaky and jittery, yawning and nausea, showing a mast cell liver problem, a gut-immune reaction which we are now dealing with.

Two stories, one message:

health's a puzzle, it's time to connect the dots and break free from the norm.

Everything is linked, there are no stand alone solutions.

In both cases, viruses, cranial nerves, liver – a tangled trio, creating physical pain.

Sharing pain = helping others to see the bigger picture much quicker than suffer for long period of time with trying to treat symptoms

What is your pain telling you?

The unforgettable moment I found myself in the presence of

Frank Bruno, the legendary British former professional heavyweight boxer, remains etched in my memory.

As design and production manager of global Fitness First Gyms, I had orchestrated a special day for our elderly members to meet and greet Frank Bruno, who was our esteemed ambassador.

True to his reputation, he had us all in fits of laughter with his distinctive chuckle.

After the cameras had stopped flashing and our members had departed, I found myself alone with Frank, ready to conduct an interview using the carefully prepared questions from our editorial team.

However, as I posed one of those questions, something changed in his demeanor.

His countenance shifted, and for a fleeting moment, I witnessed what it would be like to be in the boxing ring with him, a sensation that was both disconcerting and terrifying.

His gaze dug into me, as if he were dealing with some inner struggle - he had been profoundly triggered.

The following morning, news broke that Frank had been involuntarily sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

In the wake of this incident, several of my colleagues jokingly indicated that I was to blame, but I, too, struggled with a strong sense of guilt and self-blame for quite some time.

Frank was eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder, putting light on the underlying complexities of his emotional response that fateful day.

Several years later, he spoke with Piers Morgan about his mental health.

While I was first relieved to see him in better spirits, a familiar shadow crossed his face, and my heart sunk.

As anticipated, the interview was abruptly terminated, and Frank was once again subjected to psychiatric evaluation.

These recurring episodes piqued my interest, prompting me to embark on a journey of discovery. It wasn't until I suffered my own head trauma as a result of a horse fall while X country jumping that I realized the profound impact such injuries can have on both the mind and the body.

My own head injury had rapid and unsettling results.

I lost my peripheral vision for 24 hours, as if I were staring through a tunnel, and it took a grueling six months to regain my sense of taste and light sensitivity.

Even simple chores like watching television or working on a computer required the use of sunglasses.

There was very little knowledge and help available at the time concerning how brain trauma might affect someone.

While public awareness has improved since then, particularly in sports such as rugby and American football, a thorough knowledge of the relationship between head injuries and their effects on the body remains absent in mainstream discourse.

One of the most intriguing connections lies in the intricate network between the gut-brain axis via the vagus nerve, an important cranial nerve.

It's a connection that often goes unaddressed, yet its significance is monumental.

The important molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is central to this link.

Following a head injury, the brain's demand for ATP skyrockets, overloading the system and producing an energy depletion with long-term consequences.

If left untreated, this energy imbalance can persist and impair healing, especially if mitochondria, the cell's energy powerhouses, are not promptly addressed.

Furthermore, brain trauma alters the metabolism of tryptophan, an important amino acid.

Tryptophan is a precursor of melatonin, a hormone that governs our sleep-wake cycle, and serotonin, also known as the "happy hormone."

Tryptophan is also required by the liver to create niacin (vitamin B3), which is required for energy metabolism and DNA synthesis.

A lack of tryptophan increases pain sensitivity, anxiety, impatience, and aggression, all of which can have a negative impact on mental and emotional well-being.

While the physical consequences of head trauma are well-known, a lesser-known fact is that such injuries invariably result in gut trauma as well.

This complex relationship is frequently left unresolved, sometimes for years after the initial shock.

Three are many potential reasons for what ails us.

Nearly every single one of them has a relationship with the gut, and why I take a strong stance on looking at what your gut is saying.

This is my area of interest and expertise: investigating the interactions between gut health and the immune system in order to provide a solid foundation for improved energy metabolism.

I invite you to inquire with me to see if you are ready to work toward a solid foundation for your own improved energy metabolism.

A small investment of $650 will shift you to becoming more proactive in your health.

If you are ready, simply message me for details and to schedule a call.

It's interesting how we often get caught up in these images of what health should look like.

Most men want their bodies to appear this way, and most women want a super healthy physique.

Is this, however, an accurate picture of health?

Is there more to actual health than what appears in the mirror?

Can appearances be deceiving?

Is there more to actual true health than working out, eating clean and being a walking pill box full of supplements or medications?

This is the story of two individuals who crossed my path, both of whom were 'fit and very healthy' and resembled those very ideals.

💫

First, a 42-year-old former professional golfer transformed his life to become a plant-based personal trainer while keeping a great physique despite back and hip difficulties.

He sought assistance with his constant pain, which he assumed was caused by his gait and bunion. As we worked together online, assessing his form and movements, indeed found some correlations but it became clear very soon that his physical issues were linked to something deeper - a gut-immune health condition.

A nearly two-decade history of persistent antidepressant use, as well as a history of mental treatment to unearth 'elusive' childhood trauma that didn't exist.

Most mental health struggles are rooted in gut-immune imbalances, he had a severe nut allergy with a malabsorption issue that needed attention.

Sent him a plan for free as we were in lock down but he chose not to follow through, claiming that he couldn't afford the supplements whilst choosing to pay for lab testing separately.

Given his clean eating habits and the foundation of his business, everything came back green, validating his conviction that his gut health was in tip-top shape.

We parted ways, and then came the heart-wrenching news – he succumbed to aggressive brain cancer, just seven weeks later.

💫

And then there's the story of the 2nd man who was 64, someone I got to know very well through sporting activities until he moved overseas.

He was the embodiment of health on the surface. A dedicated cyclist and runner, pushing his body to be the best version could be, living a clean and nature-loving life, growing own veg, kind and generous, a solicitor with the portrayal of no stress but behind his stoic demeanour, a demon lurked. Aggressive stomach cancer.

💫

It's a tough pill to swallow, my friends, but here's the deal:

95% of cancers stem from epigenetics, not genetics.

Cancer cells exist in all of us, it's the triggers that flip the switch.

In both these men's cases, suppression played a role.

And as much as their stories have weighed heavily on my heart, I can't help but feel grateful for our paths crossing.

You see, it's in these moments that I've been given the chance to share a different perspective, to shed light on the deeper facets of health.

It's not about the exterior image, the perfectly sculpted bodies we see – it's about the symphony of inner workings, the harmony of the control centre within, that's true health.

It's what helps us fend off the shadows of disease.

Rest in peace, you beautiful souls.

Your experiences have become a part of my mission, a mission to inspire others to rethink their approach to health, to consider the intricate dance within, and to truly understand that well-being goes beyond what meets the eye ♥️
