Meet your therapist:

Adam is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and Registered Massage Therapist. He began his journey into the field of manual therapy by completing a 2200 hour Massage Therapy Diploma at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Halifax. From there he decided to further his knowledge and pursue his education in the field of Osteopathy where he attended the College d’Etudes Osteopathique de Montreal obtaining his Diplome d’Osteopahtie du Quebec D.O.(Qc). He has been a practicing Osteopath since 2017 and a Registered Massage Therapist since 2013.

Adam is a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths (NSAO) and the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS).

As a gymnast of 21 years, Adam’s interest in manual therapy started at a young age through his experience receiving treatment from different physiotherapists and a chiropractor. He knew early on that he was drawn toward the healthcare field. Throughout his college years Adam was also a seasoned lifeguard and lifesaving instructor with the Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society.
He finds pride in helping his patients discover their own path to achieving their goals through tissue manipulation and home care recommendations.

THE VAGUS NERVE

A seemingly never-ending branching nerve that connects most of our major organs to our brain 🧠.

It’s the longest cranial nerve in our body, one for the right side and one for the left. And is largely responsible for the connection for its role as a mediator between thinking and feeling, you know our “gut feeling.”

The vagus nerve is the “queen” of the parasympathetic nervous system. The “rest and digest” or the nerve. So the more we do things to activate the nerve (like deep ), the most we combat the effects of its opposer, the sympathetic nervous system - the “fight or flight”, rushing around, have to do something, releasing one.

A few other functions of the vagus nerve, just to name a few:
▪️slows your heart rate and respiration.
▪️lowers blood pressure.
▪️helps with calmness and relaxation.
▪️controls involuntary muscles in the digestive system, therefore, aiding digestion.
▪️taste sensation.
▪️movement function for the muscles in the neck responsible for swallowing and speech.
▪️gut-brain communication.
▪️reduces inflammation.
