Network for the Advancement of Perinatal Support The Network for the Advancement of Perinatal Support (NAPS) is a maternal mental health screening program for OBGYNs, Fertility Clinics, Peds, and Midwives

Golzar Selbe Naghshineh is the founder of NAPS. She built the program and intervention model while serving as Director of Prenatal and Postpartum Support at Downtown Women OBGYN. She is a trained psychoanalyst from the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies and the Center for Group Studies in candidacy. She began developing NAPS programming in response to her work as a birth and postpartum doula. Her experience with women prenatal and postpartum and her deep understanding of their needs lent her to recognize the necessity in building an OBGYN in-house intervention system. To meet patient needs, she built a platform that troubleshoots common prenatal and postpartum concerns, while also offering effective mental health care and intervention. Her M.S. in Nonprofit Management and Urban Policy gave her the skills and passion required to develop a financially sustainable, successful and comprehensive program that supports the mental health and general well-being of patients. Golzar also works as a psychoanalyst with patients at a low-fee clinic in the Village and has previously worked with patients at a state mental health facility in Bronx, NY. Her dedication to working with the perinatal population comes from the excitement she feels towards perinatal women’s receptiveness to personal growth and her grasp on the importance of mothering the mother.
