Her book was one of first I read in high school and read it again in college for my thesis. In fact, my thesis at Lehigh found the same statistics matching thirty years earlier when it came to gender violence and r**e on college campuses. Even with my knowledge, I somehow found myself with an internalized sense of “duty” in my past marriage and Susan’s writings highlights this epidemic… we need to find a way to empower ourselves to have a voice and to not let fear make our choices for us. I hope Susan’s book continues to be read by all genders… because it affects all of us. . . I think the answer is ultimately teaching and training unconditional self love… bc it’s the conditional love and sense of “earning” worthiness that traps us in coercive relationships

I just enjoyed a surprisingly joyful coffee mtg with who I thought was going to be a “normal” financial philanthropy guy from the local health system on how I could give back to community, and it turns out he graduated a year before me at Lehigh and his wife was in my Va**na Monologues production I produced! She’s now doing incredible work with homeless kids and teens in the Lehigh Valley! It felt so amazing to remember these early inspiring days that became my career, and to have a boring mtg turn out to be an opportunity of community connection. Thank you, Universe! What a great start to my day! And a special sHoUT OUT to my crew and cast members from VDAY back in the day! You all have a very special place in my heart. And I hope to offer educational programming for local physicians and PTs and patients on the connection between brain health and pelvic health!

This year’s International Pelvic Pain Society’s VIRTUAL Scientific Meeting will be highlighting “how it’s all connected”! Join us to learn about brain health, the effects of trauma and stress and our microbiome and how that creates and maintains chronic pelvic pain and associated diagnoses. AND feel inspired by the research demonstrating our body’s ability to heal!
As someone who healed from both pelvic pain and multiple brain injuries, I’m thrilled to be part of this year’s conference showcasing incredible clinicians and researchers around the world who have been part of my healing journey. You’ll be inspired too! Register at pelvic pain.org and be sure to sign up for our “Move Against Pelvic Pain” fundraiser events!
