Promotion of Public Health in Burkina Faso: a scientific information bulletin available
The Ministry of Health, through the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), this Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Ouagadougou, conducted the official launch of the Burkina Faso Public Health Bulletin.
Presided over by the Director-General of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr Joseph Soubeiga, representing the Minister of Health, the launching ceremony aims to showcase the Burkina Faso Public Health Bulletin (BSP) and promote visibility.
According to Dr Joseph Soubeiga, the Bulletin of Public Health (BSP) is an evidence-based decision aid in the field of public health. He also explained that the BSP's greatest value is the collection, analysis and dissemination of data related to the health of the population, the orbit of emerging health threats and the strategies in place to improve the health of the people.
For the Director General of the INSP, Dr. Seydou Barro, the Public Health Bulletin is a valuable source of information and a showcase for dissemination of health research results. He also claimed that to date, three editions of the BSP have been published.
As a reminder, the Burkina Faso Public Health Bulletin was created on September 06, 2023 with support from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC-US), the CDC Foundation, the International Association of National Institutes of Public Health (IANPHI), and the Training Program Network in Epidemiology and Public Health Intervention (TEPHINET).

On August 21, in Abidjan, the leadership teams of INSP Burkina Faso and INSP Côte d’Ivoire convened for a hybrid peer support meeting, held alongside a public health bulletin technical visit. The meeting brought together Dr. Seydou Barro and Prof. William Yavo, the General Directors of the two INSPs, along with their senior staff. This event was facilitated by IANPHI in-country consultants, Dr. Joseph Essombo from Côte d’Ivoire and Dr. Claude Millogo from Burkina Faso, in line with IANPHI’s NPHI peer-to-peer approach.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to deepen their understanding of each other’s strengths, resources, and challenges. The General Directors identified key areas for collaboration and peer support activities, including workforce development, regular experience-sharing webinars, and a peer support visit from INSP Côte d’Ivoire to Burkina Faso. These activities will be formalized through a memorandum of understanding between the two INSPs."
