Hello and welcome to Skin by Presley!

I’ve dedicated the last 10+ years to my craft, my education and ensuring I’m giving the best and most factual skincare advice that I possibly can while treating so many skin types and conditions and learning from every single client.

When I say I live and breathe this industry, I mean it. I am always looking for new innovative products, treatments but also always reading clinical paper after clinical paper to better educate myself on what is happening in skin sciences so I can either help debunk a common myth or utilize the information in my own practice to better help each and every client and guide them on how to maintain their results.

Acne is one of the trickiest conditions to control but it is possible to control it.

Acne will not go away forever, there will always be a possibility of breakouts to form randomly once in a while but the majority of severely inflamed acne can be controlled and maintained. Maintaining your results is just as important as the process of clearing the acne 👏🏻.

Can hormones contribute ? YES.
But they are NOT the one and only reason and barely even the top reason. There are so many biological and chemical processes happening in our bodies every minute of every day that we can’t possibly assume a pimple is the result of exactly one of those processes and instead we should be understanding that the body and skin responds to a multitude of stimulations and your acne breakouts are a result of many dominoes falling one after the other. Keeping in mind that these domino effects DO NOT mean there is something wrong with you, acne is a very real and normal part of your skins immune system and genetic predisposition of the skin shed cycle and pilosebaceous unit. It can’t be cured, but it can be controlled!

The skin is an organ with its own innate functions just like your other organs. These functions happen involuntarily without you telling it or willing it to happen.

The skins functions include:

🌀Temperature regulation (goose bumps and sweating)
🌀 Excretion (sebum, sweat, breakouts)
🌀 Barrier (keeps everything that should be inside your body inside, and pathogens outside)
🌀 Sensory (it senses pressure, heat, and acute pain)
🌀 Endocrine responder (yes this means it responds to hormone stimulation but it is also the function that converts sun exposure to vitamin D)
🌀 Immune System (your skin can detect pathogenic bacteria, allergies and inflammation upon contact! This is one of the main reasons for breakouts, redness, sensitivity, and allergic reactions like hives and rashes)
