🚨 ACTION ALERT for RDNs, students, and future dietitians
Proposed federal regulations may exclude nutrition and dietetics programs from the list of “professional degree programs,” which could significantly limit access to federal student loans.
Entry into our profession now requires a graduate degree. Restricting loan access will shrink the pipeline of future dietitians at a time when healthcare systems are already struggling to recruit and retain qualified RDNs. This impacts hospitals, long-term care, rural communities, public health programs, and most importantly, patients.
If you are:
• A registered dietitian
• A student or intern
• A preceptor or educator
• Or someone who benefited from federal loans

ACTION ALERT: Nutrition and Dietetics Programs are not included in the list of the U.S. Department of Education's "professional degree programs," which impacts student loan funding.
Without appropriate loan access, many qualified students will not be able to enter the profession. All practitioners are encouraged to advocate on this issue.
Protect access to graduate education.
