Condemnation of the Heinous Attack on Farmlands and Farmers in Gurfata, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT Abuja

We strongly condemn in the strongest terms the recent barbaric and unprovoked attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen on farmlands and farmers in the Gurfata community of Gwagwalada Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

It is both saddening and infuriating that after destroying several farmlands sources of livelihood for innocent farmers—the assailants went further to launch a violent attack on the farmers themselves, leaving many severely injured, several hospitalized, and tragically, some dead.

This wicked act is not only a direct threat to food security but also a provocation that could incite reprisal attacks if not urgently addressed. The situation is becoming unbearable, and silence or inaction by the authorities is no longer acceptable.

We call on the Federal Government, the FCT Administration, and the security agencies to immediately investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. Furthermore, we urge them to take proactive and decisive steps to prevent further attacks and ensure the protection of lives, properties, and livelihoods in Gurfata and across all affected communities.

Enough is enough. The lives of Nigerian citizens regardless of ethnicity or occupation must be valued and protected at all costs.
