Protecting your community from syphilis has never been more important. Syphilis is preventable and easily treated when detected early.

With cases doubling over the last decade, and almost 50% of cases presenting as asymptomatic, any s*xually active person may be at risk.

In Australia, any GP can test for s*xually transmitted infections (STIs).

Alternatively, you may be more comfortable going to a community based clinic. In Brisbane, some options are:
🔸RAPID - Fortitude Valley. Contact: (07) 3013 5566

For LGBTQIA+ community members:
🔸Queensland Council of LGBTI Health- Fortitude Valley. Contact: (07) 3017 1777

For s*x workers:
🔸Crimson Clinic (Respect Inc)- Fortitude Valley.

Visit ashm.org.au/stopsyphilis for resources that can help support the fight.

Happy International Day of Happiness 💛

Happiness isn’t about having it all together.
It’s not about being positive all the time.
It can be small, quiet and imperfect.

For many of us, happiness can look like:
🔸A quiet cup of tea
🔸A text from a friend who understands
🔸A short walk in the sun
🔸A proper belly laugh
🔸Saying “no” without guilt

At WHEQ, we know wellbeing isn’t just individual, it grows in communities where women feel safe, connected and supported.

Today, we’re celebrating the small, everyday moments that make life feel a little lighter.

Let’s fill this space with small moments of joy - comment below and complete the sentence:

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

WHEQ staff share reflections on their own journeys with endometriosis. Every endo voice matters, sharing your story can help others feel less alone and advocate for change.

This month, be sure to connect with organisations like Endometriosis Australia and QENDO Australia for support, resources, and ways to get involved.

For Queensland Women's Week, we're considering the invisible ways that the scales may not be balanced.

So much of women’s labour is unseen - emotional work, care, resilience. The scales tip quietly.

What’s one thing women carry that often goes unnoticed? Tell us in the comments ⬇️

Let’s name what’s usually invisible.

This Queensland Women's Week, we are highlighting our team's efforts at the Asian Women's Cup 2026!

Women's Health & Equality were the chosen charity partners for the Queensland games. This means we were able to attend and have meaningful conversations and interactions with those who are passionate about women's sport, and promote our services to a wide audience. Thanks to everyone who came and had a chat with us at our many stalls throughout the week.

Queensland Women's Week recognises and celebrates the successes and achievements of women and girls across Queensland, as we work towards equality and advancing women’s economic security.

In celebration, we asked the Women's Health & Equality team- what does “International Women’s Day”, and the theme of “Balance the Scales” mean to you?

Read through to see what they said!
