Introducing my new mates to their new therapy home ❤️❤️❤️

I love the Inside Out movies because they show something we all experience, different “PARTS” of ourselves holding different feelings, sometimes pulling us in opposite directions.

Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, Disgust, every part of us has an important role to play.

Parts work is a counselling approach that sees us as made up of different “parts” or sides of ourselves. For example, you might have a part that feels anxious, a part that wants to push through, a part carrying guilt, shame or embarrassment, a proud part, a strong part and a part that just wants to rest. These parts aren’t bad, they’ve usually developed to try to help or protect you.

In therapy, we gently get to know these parts, understand what they need, and help them work together so you feel more balanced, calmer, and whole.

If the past feels heavy and the future overwhelming, you don’t have to carry it all on your own.

It’s okay to seek support and with the right tools and care, it’s possible to feel lighter and more grounded each day.

One step at a time.

I think I am a bit over the black and white images on this page, with Spring just around the corner it feels better to bring some colour back!

Anyone else excited by the promise of warmer days, more time outdoors, longer nights, all the new growth outside and just get a general energy boost in Spring?

All of these things can have an uplifting impact on our mental health too.

Not a huge fan of the resident Maggies when they hit swooping season (though I may have had a giggle or two over the years at my kids trying to dodge them as they race past on their bikes - they had helmets on they were fine haha) but the babies are cute!

Bring on Spring 🌻🌸🌺🌼
Time for growth, change, fresh perepectives and new beginnings.

How would your life be different if instead of trying to push down, avoid or hide from your hard days - you attended to and nurtured yourself?

There is still so much stigma around talking about our hard stuff, admitting when things are tough, saying that your not ok, feeling like a failure……….so we distract ourselves in a variety of ways (some more healthy than others) numb ourselves, keep busy, keep up appearances and compare ourselves to other people who we perceive to have it all together/ or maybe worse - to justify our behaviours (ever caught yourself saying, oh it’s not that bad, other people have it worse as a way to avoid your looking at your own stuff??)

I promise you if we all had our s**t together, all of the time I wouldn’t have this job!

Even your therapists, counsellors, psychologists, support people have crappy days, difficult pasts, worries, imposter syndrome, feel not good enough sometimes.

WE ALL HAVE HARD TIMES & they can be so much harder to deal with on your own.

Even though it may really feel like it, and I don’t know the circumstances of everyone who might stumble across this post, YOU ARE NOT ALONE in having hard times and you don’t have to face them by yourself.

Maybe, just maybe, if you offered yourself a whole lot of love, compassion and patience when things are hard, allowed yourself to dip your toe into being vulnerable and sharing your truth, you might just find new ways of lightening your load and people in your corner to support you along the way.

Sometimes I really struggle with what to post in here. Due to confidentiality and privacy I obviously don’t share any information about the people I work with, but every day I get to be a part of something truly amazing.

Of course it’s challenging and difficult work (for me and my clients) but it’s also so inspiring!

I’m not just here for the hard, counselling is not just about whats “not going right”, it’s also about getting to the “even better” and I am so here for the high fives, celebrations, heck yeahs and you did it’s - too!!!

Change, growth, healing, transformation, I read these words so often that even I sometimes get bored of using them, but they really are the themes, or I guess umberalla terms, for all the moments and things I can’t share, but am honestly bursting with pride to witness, that I can only show in a knowing smile and feel in my contented therapist heart.

It’s almost ready!!!!

✨ Something New is Coming… ✨

If you’ve ever thought:
“I know what I should do to manage my anxiety but I just can’t seem to do it.”

“I know I should meditate or breathe… but it doesn’t work when I’m actually anxious.”

“Why can’t I stop overthinking everything?”

“Other people seem to cope so much better than I do.”

“I feel exhausted from being ‘on’ all the time.”

“I wish I could just switch off my brain for a minute.”

“I know these thoughts aren’t logical, but they still feel real.”

I’ve been quietly (well not so quietly anymore!) working on something behind the scenes.
An 8 module course/ workbook built from the tools I use every day with clients, designed to help you actually understand your anxiety, and learn how to calm it in a way that feels doable.

🌿 Evidence-based
🌿 Trauma-informed
🌿 Realistic, kind, and flexible
🌿 Created by a counsellor who gets it

It’s not about “fixing” yourself.
It’s about building a relationship with your nervous system, one that helps you feel more grounded, more capable, and more like you.

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you want early access or more info when it’s ready.
