Congratulations to Covenant Place on its 50th anniversary! A celebratory event held at the Mirowitz Center honored Harvey and Wilma Gerstein with a "Visionary Award." Over 50 years ago, Harvey Gerstein, with the support and partnership of his wife Wilma, applied for a HUD senior housing grant. This initiative led to the development of what would become a national model for affordable housing for active older adults.

Today at the Mirowitz Center, Rabbi Ze’ev Smason spoke about “The Ripple Effect: How the Little Becomes Big.” He reminded us that even the smallest gestures can spark dramatic change. One life touches another, and that connection can ripple outward, creating change far beyond what we can see. 💫

It was a thought-provoking session that left us inspired to be more mindful of the impact of our everyday actions.

Today at the Mirowitz Center, participants explored the world of person-to-person (P2P) payment apps in a Senior Planet from AARP session led by Trainer Ray White. The program covered popular services like PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp, highlighting their key features, differences, and practical uses – from sending money to grandkids to contributing to group gifts.

Don't miss "The Straight Story" on Friday, 8/15, at 1 PM. This 1999 drama follows a retired farmer and widower in his 70s, Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth), who learns one day that his distant brother, Lyle (Harry Dean Stanton), has suffered a stroke and may not recover. Alvin is determined to make things right with Lyle while he still can, but his brother lives in Wisconsin, while Alvin is stuck in Iowa with no car and no driver's license. Then he hits on the idea of making the trip on his old lawnmower, thus beginning a picturesque and at times deeply spiritual odyssey.

Beat the summer heat, say goodbye to cooking and cleanup, and enjoy spending more time with friends! 🎉

Enjoy freshly prepared, nutritious, and affordable meals while dining together every weekday at 4:30 PM in the Harvey & Wilma Gerstein Social Hall, located adjacent to the Mirowitz Center on the Covenant Place campus.

Dinner is served on Mondays – Fridays at 4:30 pm. Suggested donation per meal is $5 (donation amount is of your choice). Adults aged 60+ years are eligible for the discounted Aging Ahead meal program (those under 60 may participate at a cost of $10 per meal).

To make a reservation, please call (314) 292-7693 by noon on Thursday of the week prior. If you are new to the program, you will need to complete a Registration Form. There is no income-eligibility requirement to participate – everyone is welcome!
