Yesterday, I stood in City Hall and shared one of the most vulnerable stories of my life.
I spoke about grief.
About loss.
About how walking in a public green space helped me regulate my nervous system during a year that nearly broke me.
And then the vote happened.
The park is being given away for development.
Here’s the question I can’t stop asking:
If mental health is such a priority in this country… why are the spaces that quietly protect it, so easy to sacrifice?
This isn’t about being anti-housing.
It’s not about being anti-development.
It’s about prevention.
We talk about mental health after tragedy.
We fund crisis response.
We hold memorials.
But what about the everyday spaces that help people survive the hard years?
I’m not ready for this conversation to end.
