ADI - Advancement of People with Disabilities & Rehabilitation for All

ADI - Advancement of People with Disabilities & Rehabilitation for All Major-General (Res.)

By reimagining rehabilitation, ADI is advancing ability for all - empowering children, adolescents and adults with severe disabilities and providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services for anyone touched by disability. By advancing ability, ADI empowers Israel’s most vulnerable individuals – children, adolescents and young adults with severe disabilities – to reach their greatest lifetime potentials. ADI is also reimagining rehabilitation, providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services to individuals needing inpatient and outpatient care following an accident or health event. ADI’s teams of professional staff and volunteers at ADI Jerusalem and ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran are pioneering and sharing new ways to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. ADI also advocates, educates and leads efforts nationally and globally on disability inclusion, disability equity and providing rehabilitative care with dignity and a focus on the future. The ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village in Israel’s south and the ADI Jerusalem residential center comprise a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood, ensuring that residents with multiple disabilities and complex medical issues receive the medical and rehabilitative care and educational, vocational and social opportunities they need to reach their fullest potentials. At the same time, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, which offers a host of rehabilitative solutions for individuals from all backgrounds and levels of need, is undergoing radical growth to meet the country's rehabilitative needs. The Harvey & Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, the first rehabilitative hospital in the Negev region, is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation, research and social center that will establish a model of community-based inclusive health services, increase the number of Israel’s rehabilitative hospital beds dramatically, bring quality care to the underserved residents of the south, and create more housing and jobs in the Negev, marking the beginning of a brand new era of medical and economic strength for the State of Israel. Doron Almog leads ADI as Chairman of the organization, Avi Wortzman serves as CEO of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, and Shlomit Grayevsky serves as CEO of ADI Jerusalem.

‘ADI’ (pronounced ah-dee) is the Hebrew word for a radiant and multifaceted jewel, a name that reflects our expansive vision and broad scope of activities, including disability care, rehabilitation, research, employment, education, community services and Tikkun Olam. It also speaks to the importance and great value of our mission to care for the most precious members of our society – those who cannot care for themselves.

👟💚♿ RUNNING TOWARDS INCLUSION:👨🏻‍🦽🏃🏼‍♀️🏅ILTV's Maayan Hoffman was at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran on Wednesday morning, December 31, to document ADI’s exhilarating Fourth Annual 'Race for Inclusion,' a festive fun run and jubilant celebration of ability at every level. Running a tight 2.5K course around the renowned 40-acre rehabilitation village, 400 high school, gap year and college students - including participants from Jewish National Fund - USA’s Alternative Winter Break and Alexander Muss High School in Israel programs - embraced, hope, love and acceptance while raising tens of thousands of dollars to provide much needed trauma treatments for the most vulnerable members of Israeli society and to heal the Negev’s war-wounded IDF soldiers and civilians at ADI Negev’s Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center – the first and only full dedicated rehab hospital in southern Israel. In the spirit of true inclusion, the students ran, danced and sang with rehabbing IDF soldiers, the members of ADI Negev's inclusive gardening staff and wheelchair basketball team, and throngs of ADI residents, special education students, staff members and volunteers, celebrating their shared humanity at the real "happiest place on Earth." 🤩🎉

“On college campuses across the United States and in communities around the world, young people are running towards hate and promoting fear and division. But these proud Jewish students showed up today to run towards love and inclusion, to embrace hope, advance healing and highlight our shared humanity,” said Elie Klein, ADI’s North American Director of Advancement, just ahead of the race. “With a heartbreaking number of war-wounded soldiers and civilians being rehabilitated throughout Israel, the reality of disability has never been clearer. This uplifting annual event provides the next generation of Jewish leaders with an opportunity to confront that reality and demonstrate how promoting true inclusion and ability at every level makes us stronger as a society.” 📰 👀 READ ON: https://www.jns.org/wire/humanity-wins-the-day-at-adis-fourth-annual-race-for-inclusion/

🥂STANDING (UNASSISTED) UNDER HER WEDDING CANOPY: 💍 💕 Just a week before her wedding, Or, a 24 year-old resident of Netivot, was in a serious car accident. She suffered severe injuries to her legs and back and was confined to a wheelchair. Or's wedding was put on hold, and she was devastated. When Or was admitted to the Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran for orthopedic rehabilitation, she made her goals clear to the Physical Therapy team: she wanted nothing more than to stand under the wedding canopy with the love of her life, Orel. Or underwent intensive rehabilitation, and several weeks later, thanks to ADI's rehabilitation specialists and her own perseverance and dedication, she was able to walk down the aisle (in a special orthopedic boot) and stand under the wedding canopy unassisted. Following her fairytale wedding, Or returned to the village to complete her rehabilitative journey, and the hospital staff arranged a special Sheva Berachot celebration for her and Orel. When you are part of the ADI family, there is always hope, and you are never alone! 🫂

👀 WATCH: Humanity Wins the Day at ADI's Fourth Race for Inclusion 👨🏻‍🦽🏃🏼‍♀️🏅

On Wednesday morning, December 31, 400 hundred young North American Jewish leaders closed out a tumultuous 2025 by embracing hope, love and acceptance while participating in ADI’s Fourth Annual ‘Race for Inclusion’ at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, a festive fun run and jubilant celebration of ability at every level. Running a tight 2.5K course around the renowned 40-acre rehabilitation village, the high school, gap year and college students raised spirits and tens of thousands of dollars to provide much needed trauma treatments for the most vulnerable members of Israeli society and to heal the Negev’s war-wounded IDF soldiers and civilians at ADI Negev’s Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center – the first and only full dedicated rehab hospital in southern Israel.

As the race began, participants from Jewish National Fund - USA’s Alternative Winter Break and Alexander Muss High School in Israel programs led the pack along a fully-accessible 2.5 kilometer track that encircled ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran. Following close behind were rehabbing IDF soldiers, the members of ADI Negev's inclusive gardening staff and wheelchair basketball team, and gap year students studying at Israeli yeshivot and seminaries, including Tiferet Center: Advanced Jewish Studies for Women, Yeshivat Ashreinu, and Amudim. Throngs of ADI residents, special education students, rehabilitation patients, staff members and volunteers met the multitudes of runners at the finish line to complete the race side by side in the spirit of true inclusion. 🙌🏻❤️♿

🇮🇱❤️♿ ENCOUNTERING THE REAL ISRAEL: This week, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran was privileged to host an exceptional group of student leaders participating in Jewish National Fund - USA's Caravan for Democracy, a mission that facilitates constructive dialogue about the Middle East on American college campuses by giving non-Jewish students a unique opportunity to experience Israel firsthand. While touring ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, the students met members of ADI's diverse professional staff, played with students at the integrated kindergarten, and enjoyed fresh produce cultivated by the village's inclusive gardening team. These warm and spirited young leaders enjoyed every minute of their visit and were blown away by our integrated kindergarten, special education school, Hydrotherapy Complex, Therapeutic Horse Stable, Safari Petting Zoo, Organic Farm and Rehabilitation Hospital. But it was the respect and partnership shared by all employees and volunteers - regardless of race, religion or background - and the specialized care and personal attention received by each and every resident and student that truly stole their hearts and opened their eyes to the true beauty of Israeli society. Here's to the passionate young leaders who are making Israel advocacy and disability inclusion an international priority! ♿❤️🇮🇱

🥊 FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES: 🥋 ADI's "Taking Charge of Life" Program provides war-wounded IDF soldiers from southern Israel with a framework for holistic healing, skill-building and empowerment, supporting their return home to their families and to active civilian life. The Marianna & Eddie Rabinovitch Therapeutic Martial Arts Program is a crucial element of this specialized rehabilitative training that integrates intense workouts with psychological resilience-building techniques, offering our healing heroes the tools they need for emotional regulation, stress management, and the creation of supportive social bonds with peers who share similar experiences. The program recognizes that even after participants have successfully completed their initial rehabilitation, they continue to face long-term physical and emotional challenges that require structured, ongoing interventions. Martial arts provides them with the functional fitness and self-discipline required to stay strong, become resilient and take back their lives! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻

Our Story

ADI is Israel’s most comprehensive provider of residential care for individuals with severe disabilities and the leader of the national rehabilitation movement. While empowering hundreds of Israel’s most vulnerable citizens to advance well beyond their initial prognoses and live happy, dignified, and meaningful lives, ADI is also establishing fully inclusive communities and laying the groundwork for the provision of the highest-level rehabilitative care for all.

The ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village in Israel’s south and the ADI Jerusalem residential center (formerly a part of the ALEH network) comprise a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood, ensuring that residents with multiple disabilities and complex medical issues receive the medical and rehabilitative care and educational, vocational and social opportunities they need to reach their fullest potentials. At the same time, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, which offers a host of rehabilitative solutions for individuals from all backgrounds and levels of need, is undergoing radical growth to meet the country’s rehabilitative needs.

Slated for completion in 2021, the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran Neuro-Orthopedic Rehabilitative Hospital, the first rehabilitative hospital in the Negev region, will feature 108 rehabilitative hospital beds and Israel’s first translational research institute, increasing the number of Israel’s rehabilitative hospital beds dramatically, bringing quality care to the residents of the south, and creating more housing and jobs in the Negev.

Major-General (Res.) Doron Almog leads ADI as Chairman of the organization, Avi Wortzman serves as CEO of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, and Shlomit Grayevsky serves as CEO of ADI Jerusalem.
