Your card reveal for the week:
#1 - Write A Letter - Write a letter to your inner child.
Along this healing journey, it can be helpful to write letters to your inner child. Powerful emotions can be released and expressed through letter writing (either to your inner child or as your inner child). If you have pulled this card, it’s time to write a letter and listen to your intuition.
Awareness Exercise - If you are writing a letter to your inner child, take time today to cherish who you were as a child. Before you begin your letter, write down all of the beautiful things about who you were then. If this is a hard practice for you, write down objective things that are beautiful about all children (like laughter and playfulness). Once you have done this, write a letter to your inner child, telling them just how much you love them, how much you cherish them, and how much you adore them. If there are specific things that your inner child needs to hear, like that they are worthy or special or forgiven, now is the time to tell them so. If you are writing a letter as your inner child, take time to remember what it felt like to be a child. Reflect on the memories you have and give your inner child the permission they need to speak. Once you are ready, write down what needs to come forth. There might be certain people that your inner child wishes to write to, including your present self. It is good to practice nonjudgment and acceptance as your inner child speaks. There might be surprising or unwanted statements that come up through this process, but know that these statements are in no way a reflection of your worth or the worth of others in your life. This is just the process of healing. Once you have finished writing your letter, it can be quite cathartic, particularly if your letter included heavy or sad elements, to burn it in a releasing ritual. To practice the releasing ritual, first set your intention to let go of what once was and invite love and forgiveness in, then burn your letter. Be sure to burn paper and to do so safely. You can also place your letter in a sacred or secret place for safe keeping.
Responsive Journalling Prompt - How does your inner child feel after receiving or writing this letter? Do they feel seen and known?
#2 - Let It Go - Let go of all that no longer serves you.
It is in our nature as humans to hold tightly to what is familiar. Knowing the weight and measure of what we carry can bring us a great sense of comfort. Oftentimes the known seems to be the wiser choice compared to the unknown. It is important to be aware that just as a tree shapes itself around a known obstacle that has forced it to take a new path, these things that we hold tightly to can change the course of our destiny. If you have pulled this card, then it might be time to reflect on what you need to release.
Self-Care Exercise - Ask yourself if there is something keeping you back or forcing you to grow in a direction that might not be for your benefit. There can be many things that we hold on to for too long, such as the past, an ideal, a dream, or a painful memory. Even if we have grafted these aspects into our being, it is now time to let go of all that no longer serves you. Free the pent-up energy inside of you and imagine it leaving your body as you inhale and exhale deeply. Forgive disappointments and pains and do not allow bitterness in. Let go of control and allow what needs to die to die, so that you may blossom again once more.
Responsive Journaling Prompt - How does it feel in your body to let go of what is no longer needed? Do you feel lighter when you think about letting go? How does your inner child feel when you think about letting go?
#3 - Let It Come Forth - Give yourself permission to feel it.
Many things occur in life that we may be unable to process, and most, if not all, of these unprocessed events and emotions can be stored inside of us. If you have pulled this card, then it might mean there is a repressed emotion, memory, or aspect of the self that is hindering you in your current situation. As repressed emotions can subconsciously fuel many of our behaviors and interactions within the world, it can be beneficial to explore this.
Inner Work Exercise - One of the ways we deal with overwhelming emotions is by storing them within our physical body. We can access these trapped emotions through physical, intuitive movement. For this practice, feel your body and move how you feel led to move, particularly focusing on any areas that feel as if they are under pressure. If you need to punch the air, go for it. If you need to scream or dance wildly, go for it. As you practice this exercise, try to surrender to how your body wants to move. Try to withhold judgment and practice this exercise alone, in a dimly lit room, if you have trouble letting go. Be gentle with yourself. Note: This can be a heavy practice. Please only continue if you are comfortable working with and releasing stuck or repressed emotions. If you feel as though you need further assistance in this practice, consider visiting a somatic therapist or trauma-work professional.
Responsive Journaling Prompt - Ask yourself if there is anything that needs to be spoken aloud and released. Write down what comes forth, observing it without judgment, and proceed to speak aloud what needs to be spoken.
