I'm also sporting a new 'do, I chopped my hairs just above my shoulders and I'm LOVING HOW LIGHT IT FEELS 😻
It's that time of year to self-reflect on what you DON'T want to take with you into the New Year...what you want to focus more on and what you're ready to let go of.
This can be as simple a thing as the weight of your hair, which I was ready to let go of for sure! It can also be more complex things such as behavior, thought, or emotional patterns. Or things like being stuck in survival mode, stressed out all the time, creating a certain outcome you desire, or achieving a goal.
So, what do you want MORE and LESS of in the New Year? I'm absolutely NOT talking about making resolutions, instead I'm talking about GAINING CLARITY to create more awareness so you can choose to move towards and align yourself with the things you want more of more consciously and move your attention away from the things you want less of as much as is possible.
Clarity creates more self-awareness, and self-awareness is not in and of itself healing or transformation but it opens up the doors and windows to both.
This is an important point - especially if you struggle with clarity about what you feel, think, want, need, etc. - it's important to understand that when you're stressed, in survival mode, triggered, or dysregulated it is very difficult to have or achieve clarity because all your body/mind's resources are going toward surviving/coping. It's NOT something to blame yourself for, in fact it's a sign your nervous system needs more support and sense of safety/rest.

Yes, I'm aware it's technically Dec 12th so this meme may seem a bit late; however, making it to December has been a bit of a challenge and a journey!
I've received news from my Software Service that to continue housing my website and membership portal, I'll be charged about 3-4 x's what I currently pay...or I can pay double what I currently pay for less options.
It's a conundrum, to say the least!
It's requiring that I review my business and research new ways to continue in the new year. It also requires that I relocate and rebuild the backend of my business completely.
THIS is why my posts went silent recently! That and some small, festive holiday adventures which I'll share in a separate post.
I've no choice but to temporarily focus my time and energy on the necessary changes so please bear with me knowing that I'm reconstructing something better than ever. I'll still be posting as much as possible and keeping you updated on the changes, as well as offerings, in the new year.
Let me close this post with my gratitude for all who follow, support, and engage with my work - and to those who are part of my community, you hold a special place in my heart.

This year my holiday self-care looks like turning the Halloween lights into Christmas lights instead of taking one down to put the other up.
It started with the outdoor lights - so we have spider lights up around the window and orange lights instead of red...but I added blue lights so now the orange lights LOOK red, so I'm calling it a win!
I figured the outdoor lights worked out well enough to pull off 'festive holiday', why not keep it going indoor?! So we now have a 'skull themed' tree, and I gotta say...I'm here for it.
It was a lot less time and effort plus lights make me happy so a self-care win all around, I say!

Quick stress relief practice:
➡Close your eyes or soften your focus
➡Take a few comfortably deep breaths
➡Notice where you feel stress, tension, or any sensation in your body
➡Keep breathing comfortably deep
➡Try to stay focused on your breathing pattern, refocus if your brain kicks in with worries about the meaning of what you noticed
➡Let your body release stress, give it permission to leave while you breathe
➡Review the change you feel in your body, especially in areas you noticed stress signs
➡Repeat if/as needed
You may notice softening of muscles, release of the jaw or tongue, shoulders dropping, abdomen release, digestive noises, breathing easier or deeper, yawns, or just feeling more relaxed or calm.
Congratulations, you just supported your nervous system into a state of calm!

Take it from me, this is good advice.
I understand how compelling it is to GET IT OUT by processing your complex sh*tstorm of emotions, or heavy emotional burden of all the memories and 'what ifs' and 'should haves' mixed with guilt, uncertainty, fear, worry, grief, and maybe even a lack of clarity or confusion thrown in the mix to pretty much anyone who will listen. I also understand the pattern of oversharing as an outdated protective pattern - I mean if you just put it all out there, no one can hurt you with it, right?
I also know that it's important to talk about your problems in therapy to help you wrap your mind around it, receive validation about your feelings, and accept what happened in a way that helps you move on...AND not everyone is equipped to be your therapist. You need to unload the emotional burden you carry inside you, but not everyone can or will carry it with you.
Sometimes it can even do more harm than good to share your problems with too many or 'not the right' person/people. It may be your way of seeking connection or safety, but too much focus on your pain in conversations can be overwhelming and off-putting to others who may [intentionally or unintentionally] push away because they got triggered or dysregulated by your pain or because they are dealing with a load of their own.
Who do you talk to about your problems? What do you estimate is your ratio of sharing problems/pain vs sharing joy? When and with whom is it helpful to share (like, you walk away feeling better, not worse or questioning yourself or your share)?
