I recently finished a write up about my services, and a good friend wisely suggested that I share it across my social media. Check it out!
Hey Y'all!!
I’m a mental health therapist and certified hypnotherapist who specializes in trauma resolution, anxiety, and identity issues (sexuality/spirituality/sense of self). I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and as a gay man, I understand the trauma/pain held within our community and the importance of helping people to embrace the authenticity of who they truly are.
I consider myself to be a fairly non-traditional, eclectic therapist who is guided by what the individual client needs, and I tend to incorporate an experiential, transpersonal approach that includes tarot-work, archetypes, hiking/forest-based work, hypnotherapy, etc. I view my position as a therapist as being a guide or fellow adventurer for my clients—an equal who is there to help clients on their journeys to identify and awaken their own inner healers. I believe that every client’s mind and body knows how to heal itself when it comes to trauma energy; however, the client often has just become disconnected from that inner healer. My job as a therapist is to help them reconnect with that inner healer and to find healing, empowerment, and permanent change in their journey.
I often use hypnotherapy-based techniques in my work with trauma, as I feel it can get to the heart of the issues fairly quickly and effectively. Hypnotherapy-based techniques can also be used for other client goals, such as past-life regression, smoking cessation, facing fears, increasing motivation, exploring self/identity, and spirituality exploration. Some other techniques that I often bring into my sessions involve tarot-based therapy, archetype work, nature-based therapy, hiking therapy, traditional talk therapy, emotional freedom technique (tapping), mind/body connection work— all of which are guided by what I believe the client will respond to emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. I’m also trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP— for OCD), reiki, and in holographic memory resolution (HMR— a hypnotherapy-based trauma resolution technique).
While I am self-pay only, I do work on a sliding scale and can provide superbills to make my services more accessible. I'm currently accepting new clients 16 years of age and older who are looking for a different, alternative, holistic approach to therapy. Clients typically experience me as energetic, comical, and upbeat, and I love to bring personality into a session.
You can check out my website at http://www.holisticinnature.com or follow my business on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HolisticinNatureCounselingServices/ for more information on me or my general approach to therapy.
On a bit of a personal side note, I am obsessed with nature, the mountains, and being outdoors. I am a father of three amazing kids who bring so much meaning, joy, and laughter to my life. I’m also a tarot card reading, banjo playing, trail hiking, artist (for more on my tarot reading/art, visit me at http://www.thesouthernbackwoodsoracle.com). I enjoy horticulture/plants/gardening and dabbling in all things metaphysical.
For those of you who don't know me, I wanted to introduce myself in hopes of getting better connected within my community. I absolutely love connecting with people, so if you read over my write-up and feel like we share some energy/interests, please reach out! I would love to hear from you!
I look forward to connecting with y’all in the future—whether it’s to chat/meet each other, share knowledge about counseling theories, discuss an astrological chart, or hike a trail (or both at the same time!). Don’t be a stranger!
And don’t hesitate to ask me any questions!
Thanks, y’all!
