Across three incredible days, we explored everything from beautiful braille books & learning kits to innovative 3D-printed models & UV-printed tactile graphics, all designed to open up a world of learning through touch.

Thank you to everyone who made this conference possible & to our supporters who help us keep innovating for inclusion 💛

When Stephen suddenly lost his hearing in one ear, he wondered what it would mean for his greatest passion - music. But three years (& one cochlear implant) later he selected to represent Australia on the world stage at Beats of Cochlea, a festival for musicians who use cochlear implants & was recently featured in Hills to Hawkesbury Community: https://tinyurl.com/432atm6e

It was a great honour to host our new Vice-Regal Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, with NextSense President David Dinte & Chief Executive Chris Rehn welcoming her to our centre of innovation Macquarie University this week. The Governor-General of Australia had the opportunity to tour our centre, meet a cochlear implant recipient & learn about our audiology & early intervention services - as well as the connection between our research & practice.

Her Excellency also visited NextSense School to watch our teachers in action & enjoy a performance by our Auslan choir. At the conclusion of the event, she presented Mr Dinte with the Governor-General’s Medallion in recognition of our services and Her Excellency’s patronage.

A big thank you to the Governor-General for taking the time to learn more about who we are & who we support. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

NextSense Kindergarten takes a deep dive into the wonders of the ocean…without even leaving the building! 🌊🦈

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting the Melbourne Museum’s Ocean Wonders outreach program & our kids were in awe from start to finish. Through fun games, stories & hands-on exploration with real treasures from Museums Victoria’s collection, they discovered the amazing animals that live along our beaches & beneath the waves.

From touching a giant Megalodon tooth & holding a whale bone, to getting up close with a green sea turtle & seagull (taxidermy specimens from the museum!), the children explored shells, sharks & even sea creatures that lived millions of years ago 🦷

Not only did they learn fascinating facts, but they also discovered how important it is to protect & care for our ocean friends big & small 💙

A huge thank you to Melbourne Museum for bringing the magic of the ocean to life for our curious learners! 🐚
