As a physio, I spend a lot of time talking about exercise.
But this is your reminder that movement doesn’t have to look serious.

Tried padel for the first time this week and it ticked all the boxes:
✅ Social
✅ Fun
✅ Surprisingly good cardio
✅ Didn’t feel like “exercise” at all
...and that was on a cold Monday night outdoors in Cardiff in January!

If you’re stuck thinking movement has to be the gym, running, or perfection — it doesn’t.

👉 The best exercise is the one you enjoy enough to come back to.

✨ 15-Min Energy Reset ✨

Move, breathe, and recharge your body in minutes:

1️⃣ Lymphatic hops – Relax, bounce, exhale to boost lymph flow
2️⃣ Body wave – Mobilize ankles, knees, hips for fluidity
3️⃣ Trunk twists – Release tension, wake up your spine
4️⃣ Ballet squats – Strengthen legs, improve posture
5️⃣ Arm swings – Open shoulders, energize circulation
6️⃣ Golf swings – Activate rotation, loosen hips
7️⃣ Marching – Fire up your core and balance
8️⃣ Horse stance reps – Build strength and stability
9️⃣ Lunge & reach – Stretch hips, lengthen spine
🔟 Horse stance side stretch – Improve flexibility
✨ Tapping – Stimulate energy, reduce stress

🌿 Energy is everything. These movements are inspired by ancient Chinese practices—similar to the warm-ups we used in Karate. Long before modern science caught up, they understood the power of breath, flow, and energy.

I've added my own twist, adding hip opening movements, slow mobility waves and intentional breathing.

I love doing this in the mornings to start the day, or when I get to clinic - before I see my patients. It makes me feel alert, invigorated and calm.

It works really well as a pre-run warm up too, hitting all the major joints and and muscle groups.

💡 Just 15 minutes to feel lighter, stronger, and more grounded.

Starting 2026 with my first run of the year....and first run in 2.5 years!

I'm so excited to really focus on my health and fitness this year.

As a physio, my fitness also fluctuates - just like everyone else's.

The best all rounder stretch for spine, shoulders, glute!

This is commonly known as the "Open Book" stretch and I recommend it so most of my patients!

To add variety to the stretch:
Move your top leg
Bend your elbow
Move your arm like a hand on a clock
Synchronise rib rotation with deep breathing
Prop your hand on a pillow if if doesn't reach the floor

I recommend "hanging out here" for a few minutes to really let your body open up. Use your deep diaphragmatic breathing to get that lovely activation of your parasympathetic nervous system (the "rest and digest" part of your automatic nervous system, that calms the boys down).

My patients often say they LOVE this stretch.
