My Story

I am a cancer surgeon devoted to the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. I provide care and and surgical expertise for patients with this rare disease from all over the country and world. I manage sarcoma of any body location including the limbs, trunk and back of the abdomen (retroperitoneal). In fact, I see a fair number of patients with retroperitoneal sarcoma and liposarcoma. In addition, I am also actively engaged in research, specifically trying to better understand liposarcoma, in hopes of developing more effective treatment strategies. My research background is in cancer immunology and in fact, my work is focused on studying the immune system’s response to well differentiated / dedifferentiated liposarcoma. I am originally from Southern California. I went to college and medical school at Northwestern University and then completed surgical training at the the University of California at San Francisco. I then treated cancer, focusing on sarcoma, at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In 2014, I was recruited to the University of Southern California (USC) to develop the multidisciplinary Sarcoma Program. I see patients at mostly at Keck Hospital of USC (323-865-1535) and also at Huntington Memorial Hospital (Pasadena).
