Did you know we often drink half as much water in winter as we do in summer? 💧

Colder weather reduces our thirst cues but our bodies still rely on hydration for digestion, energy, and detoxification.

Ways to stay hydrated when it’s cold:

Warm water with lemon or ginger

Herbal teas (fennel, chamomile, peppermint for digestion)

Broths and soups

Foods high in water content — cooked veggies, fruit compotes

Hydration helps every part of your body function better, especially your digestion and elimination.

Warming, gut-loving foods for autumn 🍂

Here are some of my go-to gut-loving autumn staples:

🥕 Root vegetables - full of fibre and prebiotics to keep digestion moving
🍠 Sweet potato - stabilises blood sugar and feeds good gut bacteria
🧄 Garlic & onions - natural antimicrobials that support immunity
🌾 Whole grains like oats, brown rice, and quinoa - gentle and nourishing
🧡 Ginger - stimulates digestion and circulation

Tip: combine these into soups, stews, and slow-cooked dishes to support your gut

Your body is a beautiful detox system all on its own

The liver, lymphatic system, skin, and colon all work together to remove waste and maintain balance. When one of these pathways becomes overloaded, the others have to work harder, and you might notice:

Puffiness or fluid retention
Fatigue
Brain fog
Irregular digestion

Supporting these pathways with nourishing foods, hydration, movement, and rest can make a huge difference. Think of it as helping your body flow with the season, not fight against it.

As the seasons change, our digestion often slows too 🍂
Colder weather, heavier foods, and a shift in routine can all leave your system feeling a little sluggish.

Signs your gut may need a gentle reset:

- Feeling bloated or heavy after meals

- Irregular bowel movements

- Low energy or foggy thinking

- Skin breakouts or dullness

As we wrap up October, it’s the perfect time to pause, reflect, and reset before we move into the final stretch of the year.

This month has been all about nurturing our gut, supporting our bodies through the seasonal changes, and embracing the slower rhythm that autumn brings.

As the nights draw in, remember to:
✨ Prioritise rest and warmth
🥦 Nourish yourself with grounding, seasonal foods
💧 Stay hydrated and kind to your digestion
💛 Make time for self-care (even 10 minutes counts!)
