I was listening to an interview with an Olympian who came second in the world.
Silver medal.
And he was devastated.
I sat there thinkingâŚ
Are you kidding me?
Second.
In the entire world. You're a complete legend to us all.
At your craft.
Against millions of people who never even made it to the start line.
And this is where mindset matters.
If coming second makes you feel like a failure, that tells me everything about the pressure youâre putting on yourself â and nothing about your worth.
Because showing up.
Training for years.
Sacrificing comfort.
Failing publicly.
Getting back up anyway.
That doesnât disappear just because you didnât come first.
And this applies to life, not just sport.
Iâm currently ranked #8 in APAC.
Ten months in.
Am I thinking, âI should be higherâ?
F**k no.
Iâm thinking:
Look how far Iâve come.
Look what I built.
Look whatâs possible now.
Second. Third. Fourth. Eighth.
Theyâre not losses â theyâre proof of progress.
Be kinder to yourself.
Zoom out.
Stop discrediting your effort just because youâre chasing more.
Ambition is healthy.
Self-hatred disguised as âmotivationâ is not.
If youâre not where you want to be yet â good.
That means youâre still moving.
And thatâs something to be proud of.
