The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is in urgent need of donations as the shortfall could potentially put their training program in jeopardy. If they cannot secure the remaining funds, they may have to shut down their training program.

For today only, the Mosborough Busy Busy Lions Club will be matching all donations. The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides sends out instant Donation tax receipts for anyone who donates over $20.

Our Facility Dogs Sky & Pluto Need Your Help

At the Caribou Child & Youth Centre, we are incredibly fortunate to have Sky and Pluto, our two amazing facility dogs, who bring comfort, healing, and strength to children and families every single day.

But here’s the truth: without the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides LFCDG Sky and LFCDG Pluto wouldn’t be here. The Lions Foundation is the reason dogs like them are trained and ready to serve our community.

The Lions Foundation is facing a $20 million shortfall that has already paused construction of Canada’s largest Dog Guide training school. Without urgent support, this project could stop forever, putting at risk not only future Dog Guide teams, but also the ability to keep existing programs strong.

They have launched the most urgent fundraising campaign in their history, with a goal of raising $5 million from the public to get back on track.

Here’s how you can help right now:
• Share the campaign with your friends, family, and networks
• Start a peer-to-peer fundraiser or organize an event: events.dogguides.com/event/difference/home
• Re-share posts to spread the word
• Make a donation if you can: www.dogguides.com

This is a make-or-break moment. Our dogs are ready to work. But without the Lions Foundation, the future of Sky, Pluto, and programs like ours is at risk.

Happy National Dog Day!

Today, we celebrate two of our most special team members, our facility dogs LFCDG Pluto and LFCDG Sky.

Every day, these incredible dogs bring comfort, calm, and courage to children, youth, and families who come through the doors of the Caribou Child & Youth Centre. Whether it’s sitting quietly beside a child during a difficult conversation, helping someone feel safe in court, or simply offering unconditional love, Pluto and Sky remind us that healing can come in many forms even with four paws and a wagging tail.

We are so grateful to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides for making it possible for Caribou to have these amazing partners in our work.

Join us in celebrating Pluto and Sky today by sharing your appreciation in the comments below!

A huge thank you to a dedicated member of the Rotary Sunrise Club’s Interact program, for choosing the Caribou Centre as the recipient of half of their scholarship earnings!

As part of their scholarship, students were asked to donate a portion to a charity of their choice and we’re honored that the Caribou Centre was selected. Your generosity helps us continue creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for youth in our community.

Let’s celebrate this inspiring act of kindness and leadership!

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons | July 30
“Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation”

Human trafficking is not random, it’s a calculated, organized crime that exploits the most vulnerable. From forced labor to sexual exploitation, millions are trapped in modern slavery, often hidden in plain sight.

Traffickers operate like criminal enterprises using violence, deception, and digital tools to recruit, control, and profit.

But we can fight back: by raising awareness, strengthening laws, supporting survivors, and disrupting criminal networks.

Let’s break the cycle.
Speak up.
Support victims.
End the exploitation.

Improving coping strategies, fostering resiliency, and processing trauma for children and youth.

The Caribou Child & Youth Centre is a child advocacy centre that serves children and youth (under 18) who have experienced sexual, physical, or psychological abuse, exploitation, and/or neglect. We also work with those who have witnessed other types of trauma or violence.

We have a committed, comprehensive multidisciplinary team that works together to provide the best possible services for children and their families. Intervention and treatment in child abuse cases is strengthened when agencies work toward common goals, which include support services for the child, and holding offenders accountable. Our team consists of: RCMP, Child Family Services, Pace, Victim Services, as well as Crown Prosecution.

The Caribou Centre was designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment where children could disclose abuse, thus, reducing the trauma and anxiety for these young people. The centre seeks to provide children and their families with one single point of contact to assist them throughout the process; from in initial disclosure, through investigation, court proceedings, and any ongoing support or therapeutic treatment that is necessary. Our goal is to ensure that children are not re-victimized by the very systems designed to protect them.
