I saw an ad for Simply Jif and immediately looked it up because in my experience, the “simply” buzzword usually means nothing. I was correct.

I’m a peanut butter purist and prefer peanut butter that is one ingredient only, but I’m not judging here. Eat any peanut butter you want.

But read the ingredients to see if the product is ACTUALLY what you want. Because who knows, there may be a significantly cheaper option with the same exact ingredients. It’s just marketing, baby.

Fairlife just rolled out new branding, so as a fitness design nerd, here are my thoughts.

Overall, the rebranding is pretty minimal, but the changes they did make…I don’t love.

Also, I just bought this mic and have no clue what I’m doing so bear with me while I work towards crisp audio with no pop 😆 I’ll get there eventually.

Words mean nothing & everything is protein. The end.

This right here is health food branding at its finest.

The ingredients are in different ratios so technically it’s a different recipe, but there is nothing healthier about “simply” mac & cheese…even though it is very much positioned that way.

Maybe it’s creamier. Maybe it tastes better. But it’s basically the same product. It’s just using a lot of the go-to health food branding tricks.

Look past the health halos to make decisions based on what YOU care about, not based on what the product looks like.

Is sugar “natural”? Technically. It comes from plants, which is a natural ingredient, so it fits the bill for natural when it comes to labeling.

But white granulated sugar doesn’t naturally exist in this form. It’s a refined, extracted, and added back in. It’s just…from plants.

That doesn’t make it BAD (I’m far from anti-sugar), but it makes it one hell of a loophole when it comes to natural food labeling.

I bought these Lucky Charms and spent an hour counting them thinking I was going to make a profound point. But alas, here we are.

My point was gonna be that something as simple as more marshmallows in your bowl can change the calories so don’t sweat it if your calories for the day are not PERFECT.

Except when I did all the math, every single bowl I tested has the same exact amount of calories regardless of marshmallow amount. So, if you’re like me and you like to make sure your bowl has extra marshmallows in it, you’re golden.

For those curious, one marshmallow contains roughly 1.15 calories. One piece of cereal contains about 0.58 calories. Yeah, I did that math.

Yes, marshmallows contain slightly more sugar, but the carb counts are still the same.

Anyyyyyway this is all completely useless information but I was not about to let all that work go to waste. You’re welcome, .

This is not a fear mongering post or an anti-SunChips post. This is a branding awareness post.

These SunChips Fiber are the latest product to hop on the high-fiber train, but are they actually high in fiber? By FDA standards, no, they’re not.

This is the same thing that most “protein” products do. Slap the word on the label and you don’t have to worry about specific guidelines.

Maybe these chips are delicious. They added extra fiber through the use of black beans in the ingredients, and I like black beans, so maybe I’d enjoy these. But they’re not going to move the needle much if you’re in search of more fiber in your diet.

Always read the nutrition facts and the ingredients, because it will tell you the full story.

Came across this footage from an actual FDA meeting where some of the most egregious serving sizes were determined.

Lenny & Larry’s always gets me because nobody is opening a package and eating half a cookie. But the other ones are also servings I have always found absurd.

Peanut butter is the other obvious one, but what else would you add?

Some of these bars are absolutely elite but they fly very much under the radar!

I had to make that first line sound legit to not spoil anything, but if you’ve ever seen my content, you know right away these aren’t real.

I post videos rebranding “junk food” into “healthy food” to show you just how powerful branding and marketing can be. All of these labels are 100% true (they do require context though so you best be watching my videos!)

I make these rebranding videos for entertainment, but also to educate you on what to look out for on labels, because companies are always looking for loopholes.

Anyyyyyway, try sending one of these slides to someone to see if you think it’s real. Nobody reads captions anyway 😜

When I saw sour protein bars, it just sounded like a protein bar that had spoiled. Needless to say, wasn’t super excited about trying them. But my brother got these for me and I love my brother, so here we are.

Credit to for calling these sour puffs and not sour protein bars. A much smarter branding move.

Built Bars have never been my favorite so my expectations for a sour version were super low, but I like these a surprising amount.

If you’ve tried these, let me know if you agree!

Fiber’s big moment has arrived.

Now watch as the fiber market goes HAM the rest of the year.

Is it frowned upon to stitch yourself? I changed my shirt and my glasses so it might as well be two different people.

Hey , I don’t think you really need any help moving product this time of year, but just in case.

I happen to love Peeps but I know they are incredibly polarizing. What do you think? Yay or nay?
