Update: Kevin has been for several dialysis sessions. He saw the specialist last week who now wants to increase the dialysis sessions. The new medical aid still refuses to assist with any expenses until the waiting period ends.

There are signs of infection at port sight that they use for dialysis 😞

Kevin is extremely tired, weak and lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time.

Latest update: Kevin has been able to have several dialysis sessions so far.

His HB is very low currently sitting at 9g/dl. These low levels are causing him to be extremely weak and tired at times.

He has had to have blood transfusions which currently cost R12098 per unit given.

He currently requires EPO injections weekly due to the severe anemia as his body is unable to produce enough red blood cells due to the kidney failure.

Latest update: Kevin has been able to have several dialysis sessions so far.

His HB is very low currently sitting at 9g/dl. These low levels are causing him to be extremely weak and tired at times.

He has had to have blood transfusions which currently cost R12098 per unit given.

He currently requires EPO injections weekly due to the severe anemia as his body is unable to produce enough red blood cells due to the kidney failure.

Kevin has had 7 dialysis sessions and his blood results are starting to look better.
Unfortunately due to such low kidney function his body is struggling to produce enough red blood cells so we now have the added cost of blood transfusions as well.
Thank you to everyone who has assisted so far. Please continue sharing so we can try get Kevin the help he needs. Every single cent helps towards his sessions and blood transfusions.

Just a quick update: So far the blood results show that Kevin’s HB has dropped to 6 which is not a good thing. The doctor will let us know on Monday if we need to consider a blood transfusion.

Kevin has officially been for 6 sessions of dialysis thanks to the amazing people who have assisted him so far. Another batch of blood test have been done this evening and we now wait to hear if there is any improvement at all.

A very big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every single person who has either donated or shared the post. It all helps to get Kevin from just being in an existence to living a life again.

Latest update: Kevin has been able to have 4 dialysis sessions so far.

His HB is very low currently sitting at 7.2g/dl. (Less than half of what it should be) These low levels are causing him to be extremely weak and tired at times.

He currently requires EPO injections weekly due to the severe anemia as his body is unable to produce enough red blood cells due to the kidney failure. These weekly injections now cost R7500.

Latest update: Kevin’s kidney function is down to 3%. He has been able to have 2 dialysis sessions so far however the unit needs us to pay for a minimum of 12 sessions upfront each month.
