Baseline Medical Surveillance Done for Fakkel School of Skills
Fakkel School is based in Sasolburg and is a School of Skills for learners aged 12 – 18 years. The School offer workshops to the learners to learn practical skills which includes welding, sheet metal, woodwork, motor mechanics, handyman skills, hairdressing, edu-care and basic computer skills. To assist Fakkel School in complying with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, First Choice Occupational & Mobile Health in Vanderbijlpark did Baseline Medical Surveillance Examinations on 8 learners during the 8th & 9th April, 2021. This includes the imperative Baseline hearing test as the legislation requires: “A baseline audiogram shall be recorded –
(a) In the case of a new employee (who did not work before or who was never exposed to noise above 85 dB before), before the employee commences employment or within 30 days of commencement of such employment.
