Spent time in-store assisting runners from the Kickstart Program (Dolphin Coast Striders Running Club )👟🏃♀️
Choosing running shoes is NOT about:
❌ what your friend wears
❌ the flashiest marketing
❌ the colour
❌ what’s on special
Especially when you’re training for your first 10km, the right shoes are crucial for:
✔️ injury prevention
✔️ comfort
✔️ enjoying the run
My shoe-fitting process 👇
I asked every runner:
• Distance you’re running (10km in 12 weeks)
• Running experience
• Current shoes
• Any niggles or injuries
• Your pace
Then assessed:
👣 Foot mechanics barefoot & in current shoes
🩻Consider the frame of the runner
From there → recommended 2–3 suitable styles
Sizing check:
✔️ A thumb’s width between longest toe & shoe tip
✔️ Remove the innersole
✔️ Stand on it with clean feet or socks
Next step:
👟 Try shoes on with socks
🏃 Run on the in-store track (thanks 🙌)
If torn between 2 pairs?
➡️ One brand on each foot
➡️ Run again
➡️ Eliminate until the best match remains
Your shoe choice should be based on:
✔️ Comfort
✔️ Fit for YOUR feet
✔️ A feeling of forward propulsion
Your shoes should NOT:
❌ collapse under your feet
❌ feel like a marshmallow
Final tip 👉 Tie your laces properly
You should NOT be able to push your shoes off your feet
