Don't you just LOVE how Covid made us all go online???? It's like having the library of Alexandria at my fingertips!
So I spent Saturday doing an 8 week online course from studying the psychology of behavior change - WHY do we sabotage all our best intentions?
Sunday I zipped over to for 7 week course on Human Anatomy - musculoskeletal cases of injury to knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow... because these are the injuries I see so often in my gym members and I would like to have the medical knowledge to back the physical fitness recommendations I offer them. Tonight I started at doing a 4 week course in Obesity.

I LOVE being able to learn from the best in the world from my couch!!! Ultimately I would like to satisfy myself with a bona fide, personal experience of ALL the Ivy League schools! 😉University of Cambridge is only offering script writing type courses on the platforms so I might have to write a screenplay or something. Haven't seen there. Hmmm....

I am SO impressed with the Harvard University teaching style!! A complex subject broken in to understandable, bite-size components, slick, media supported graphics and I think we will be watching some cadaver action later on in the course. Learning is geared around self-exploration and analysis. You need to find your own hypothesis based on what you learn before the lecturer unpacks the medical path of diagnosis and treatment. So cool!

Yale University does it differently, putting you in to more of a class discussion format backed by scientific literature which forms your homework assignments. This girl loves to read clinical trials. 😻

The University of Edinburgh is like stepping back a hundred years! Chalk boards and actual graph paper! And humor! They don't have all the fancy fancy, but MAN - they still know how to make it fun to learn!

All so very, very different! I'll be at the University of Canterbury shortly for an 8 week course on Mental Health and Nutrition and then it looks like I might be stuck at for a while because they have all sorts of courses my gym members and clients need (latest diabetes diet protocols, incontinence, borderline personality disorder, autism in adults...) You know, stuff a person ought to know stuff about? 😂🌵🐜😂

If I could just get $1250 together I would be in to the Columbia University / Cornell University 6 month program for medical CPD points for obesity and weight management. That looks like THE course to do for ANYONE talking to a patient about weight loss!!! That program has professors and lecturers from every premier school on the planet!

SO much learning to do and such few hours in a day! Okay, over I go to my Hogwarts classroom in Edinburgh!

PS look at edX and Coursera and Harvard Medical School Education Platform to find a bit of brain bonanza to suit your interests? Many of the courses offer a free part - you just need to pay to get an actual certificate of completion. $30, $50, $200, $1250... $25,000? just depends on the school and the length of the course.

I received my DNAlysis results - and am SO glad I did this! It has given me the 'blueprint' for my house - and now it makes SO much sense! I can see which switches are on that should be off, switches that are 'off' I now need to switch on!

When I got fat, I did EVERYTHING to reverse it. I had my bloods done to check for some hidden metabolic glitch. I went to doctors, had scio, health scans and tried every diet out there. I worked for Lisa Raleigh for the inside track on how to be a 'Biggest Loser'. I got my diet nutrition qualification to learn the 'secret' that was clearly not part of the various diet programs ( etc.) (FYI - your standard diet nutrition plan is SO limited because they don't consider hormones in an eating plan). I became a personal trainer and have possibly studied 10,000 hours of clinical trials and metabolic lectures from doctors, researchers and professors in the field. Nothing gave me what my DNA Genes had to say!

MY metabolic blueprint is a ticking time bomb💣🧨. If I had not been doing what I have been doing these past 10 years (3 - 5 fitness classes a day, ozone sauna therapy, endermologie lymph drainage massage, vitamin supplements by the handful, extended water only fasting...) I would be the size of a house, I would very possibly be fighting cancer and would be medicating for cardiac issues, osteoporosis and may well be looking at hip/knee replacements🥹 Fighting my extra kilos saved my life!!!

My issue is ALL compromised detoxification, methylation and oxidation!!!! My genes are pushing a very dirty, very dangerous estrogen pathway (4-OH Estrogen Methylation is 3 x higher risk for breast cancer) I suspected my estrogen was off so have been 'sort of' managing it but now that I KNOW that it is there... I'm all in!!!! Cruciferous vegetables, DIM, Iodine, Raw carrots, high fiber! Bi-weekly lymph massage and ozone sauna!

So, this dirty dangerous estrogen pathway is made even more dirty and dangerous because my phase 2 detox system is SEVERELY compromised. The genes I need to clear all this dangerous estrogen, heavy metals, free radicals, metabolic sludge - ALL of them are OFF. and loads of green vegetables, brightly coloured fruit and veg and eggs, eggs, eggs to help my poor darling liver! Thank goodness for my ozone sauna and all those 2 /3 day water fasts. It saved my life.

MY genes don't deal with saturated fats at all well. Again, my genes are pushing a methylation pathway that is a ticking time bomb!! 🧨💣☣️☢️ Imagine if you tried to run your car on old, rancid oil? My poor body has had to deal with oxidated (rancid) fat. Since the heart and brain run on fat - a pretty wonder i have not had a heart attack yet. No wonder my brain goes into ADHD hyperdrive!? Poor baby. I've been feeding her diesel when she should be on pure omega 3! Hi-Ho Hi-Ho it's off to the fishmonger I go!!! Nordic Meditterranean is the eating style for me!

For others with a similar gene profile, BANTING, CARNIVORE or KETO is the WORST eating style you can be on. You are literally dieting yourself FAT and SICK.

On TOP of all this - I have the 'snacking gene', the 'sweet tooth' gene, the 'bitter gene' (don't like vegetables!), 'caffeine gene' - so left to my own devices I would be snacking on cookies and cream ALL day and binging by night. Hah! Thank goodness for DynamX Ladies Fitness Studio and Belle Santé Ballito

Although we cannot CHANGE our genes, we CAN change the expression of the various SNPs we are born with. I am living, breathing proof of that! MY gene blueprint would have me a fat, sick mess. Lifestyle, nutrition and supplements REALLY make a difference! And by golly, I don't know ANYONE in town who is better positioned to know exactly what needs doing?

I am humbled and SO grateful. EVERYTHING I have studied, learnt, done to figure my own thing has not only saved MY life, but has taught me where/how/when/what others need too. I think I may have saved a few other lives too😉

A gene profile should be an essential for everyone! Do you know there is a 'su***de' gene? Yep, if there is a certain gene pattern in an individual that person is going to be living a miserable hell. Yes, lifestyle and supplements can absolutely change the tragectory! Wouldn't you want to know if you need to change things earlier than later? There is a gene profile that sets up addictive patterns - and not everyone has the same addictive traits. Ni****ne and alcohol is different to the opioid pattern. Some can take cannabis - others are at HIGH risk of falling over into complete MADNESS! Not such an innocent 'natural' gateway drug after all.

You know how some say coffee is good and others say it is BAAAAD? It depends. On the genes.
You know how some insist or to lose weight but you just get fatter? It depends. On the genes.
Do you now how some say strength training is best and others insist cardio, cardio, cardio...? It depends. On the genes!
By golly miss molly! Everyone is different and what is going on within is NOT THE SAME for everyone. Beef and Butter Girls get skinny if their genes say so. If not, you're just getting lard larger!
Inflammation, cancer, alzeimers, dementia, auto immune condition...even our TEETH condition is All In The Genes!!!!

SEPTEMBER BE CHANGED PROGRAM
Mondays:
Lower Body: Higher, perkier butt, toned inner thighs, sculpted calves and teardrop thighs.
Tuesdays:
Ab Core: Corset Strength of the TA (transverse abdominus) which includes back, sides and front. Upper abs, lower abs and, of course, waist.
Wednesdays:
5x5 Personal Challenges: 5 Stations with 5 exercises targeting key requested areas for longevity:
1. Strength
2. Dexterity
3. Flexibility
4. Balance
5. Maximal Fat Burn
Thursdays:
Upper Body: Sundress Readiness with toned and sculpted arms and shoulders
Fridays:
Stretch and Flexibility: Only a co**se is supposed to be stiff. Bending and stretching like plasticine should be a top priority against aging.
Classes will repeat each week so you can measure your performance from the previous week.
Dance class on Thursdays as normal
Yoga as normal on Friday afternoon
