Essential oils have been used for centuries, since antiquity, to improve the health of skin, hair and body. It is called ‘essential’ as it contains the essence of the plants from which they are derived.
We use high quality essential oils originating from certified botanical plants that are 100% pure, 100% natural, 100% unaltered, 100% integral and GC/MS tested. Only 5% of essential oils globally match these criteria.
Since most of our ingredients originate from Africa it is important to us that our products benefit the various skin colours and types represented on this beautiful continent.
Fontis Skinfood products are tested on real people (we are grateful to family and friends) and NOT on animals. If it is not good enough for our skin you won’t find it in our products.

What does Fontis mean?
It is the Latin word for Fountain.
Fountain evokes images of the Fountain of Life which is the essence of true beauty.
How did it all get started?
Having lived in Minneapolis (USA), London (UK) and Montreaux (Switzerland) the founder has experienced many of the wonders those countries and their neighbours have to offer. However, her home country South Africa have natural resources that is even more mind blowing. Take the Marula or Baobab trees for example, they are mini factories from nature’s laboratory. They offer shelter, food and possess some of the world’s most sought after oils that are perfect for skin health.
The African Continent inspired the founder when she started to look for solutions for her skin and age that shows results. She spent eighteen months perfecting Fontis Chamomile & Marula Cream for herself. The reason? Being in her forties she wanted an all natural product to use on her face resulting in a flawless skin with a healthy glow.
The end result is the consequence of extensive research, multiple adjustments and the help of friends and experts. Today she is beyond happy with the results as the texture of her skin is more silky and smooth and she looks younger. She started by giving the cream as gifts and it has subsequently grown into a business.
