Lately we see healers evoking idlozi with church songs and ilahlekisa abantwana abasha who are yet to discover their gifts.
Old healers have mastered their gift and know how to evoke idlozi without uku kwaza or even drums, but what about those who are still learning amadlozi wabo?
dlozi songs are about pain, the pain of those who left us this gift, the pain of the journey and that is because idlozi flourishes in pain, livuka nga mandla.
church songs are about healing, and love that our God brings to ones life and that is because isthunywa demands u to forget the pain and choose to heal, it works from purity and doesnt dwell on grudges and painful memories.
so when i evoke idlozi with church songs uyali hlehlisa because "what about what i went through?, where is the pain that encourages me to grow?"
