Mobility Aids

Mobility Aids We sell wheelchairs, scooters, powerchairs, ramps, walking aids, invalid and incontinence products. We hire and repair wheelchairs and mobility products.

Mobility Aids was purchased as a very small, two month old business in 1995, operating from a one roomed office in Benoni. With the vision to fulfil a need in the community by supplying good quality home nursing equipment at an affordable price, the sole proprietor, Verna Campbell set out helping the disabled, infirm and convalescing patients to improve their quality of life. The business was move

d to her home as it was too small at the time to sustain itself with the cost of rent added to the other expenses. Mobility Aids supplied equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames, crutches, commodes, as well as incontinence products. Equipment was available for sale or hire and all products were of the highest quality possible backed up by efficient and reliable support service and back up spares. Initially advertising was done in the local Caxton newspapers but that was cut back to yellow pages only. Good service and word of mouth has accounted for the success and growth of our business. Initially the business was run only by Verna Campbell and her domestic helper Gladys Nyawuza, who has since retired ,both with an understanding of the specific requirements of the physically disables and infirm. Where necessary, a home visit was conducted to obtain a better understanding of the specific needs of the patient. Today the business is a registered Closed Corporation and employs a compliment of five staff members. The product list has grown to include motorised wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs, cushions, pressure mattresses and nebulisers, only to mention a few. Mobility now offers wheelchair service and repairs as well. The Company works closely with Medical aids to have purchases authorised and take away the frustration of patients having to make claims themselves through their medical aids.
