Sometimes messy handwriting and slow writing isn’t just about effort…

It could be signs of retained primitive reflexes. These reflexes, meant to fade in infancy, can stick around and mess with:

📝Pencil grip
📝Hand dominance
📝Posture
📝Muscle control

… making writing feel harder than it should.

If a child:

✍Uses both hands when writing
✍Presses too hard or too soft on the page
✍Reverses letters or numbers
✍Tires out quickly

…these might be more than just “bad handwriting.” Integrating those reflexes can dramatically improve written output and ease frustration.

To find out more about all the retained reflexes potentially causing poor handwriting and Dysgraphia, leave a comment 👇and we’ll send you the link or check it out in the profile.

🌿 Wildlings Special Needs Learning Centre 🌿
Loving what we do — and who we do it for. 🤍
Every family carries a story.
Every child leaves an imprint.
So often we hear:
“My child cried to go to school.”
“They weren’t coping.”
“They were scared.”
“There were complaints about behaviour or non-cooperation.”
At Wildlings, our belief is simple:
A child cannot be calm if they do not feel safe.
A child cannot learn if they are not loved, respected, and accepted.
Busy minds and busy bodies were never meant to sit still for hours.
Children do not all learn the same way — or at the same pace.
And no amount of forcing will ever change that.
✨ Love them first.
✨ Accept them as they are.
✨ Make them feel safe and welcome.
And the learning will flow naturally. 🌱

💫Every activity we do strengthens your child’s neurological development, both directly and indirectly.

🌟 Benefits of Pe***ng (Using One Hand)

Pe***ng isn’t just fun , it builds super skills:
Pincer grip
Finger strength
Eye–hand coordination
Early fine motor control
Focus and attention
Great for younger children or beginners

Benefits of Suction Spinners (One-Hand Play)

These little spinners do big things:
Grip strength
Wrist stability
Calm, focused play
Visual tracking practice
Perfect for early fine motor + sensory input

👐 Benefits of Pe***ng With BOTH Hands (Simultaneously)

Two hands = double the development boost!
🧠 Strengthens both sides of the brain
Improves left–right brain integration
Supports crossing midline
Builds bilateral coordination
✍️ Boosts writing, dressing & daily task readiness
Enhances pincer grip in BOTH hands
👀 Improves eye–hand coordination

🧠 Why Two Hands Together Matters

Using both hands at the same time encourages:
Brain wiring and neurological development
🔄 Communication between both hemispheres
🧩 Stronger motor planning
Faster learning + better retention
Higher-level school readiness skills

📌Difficulty Levels are adjusted as per ability

🌼 Younger / beginners:
• One-hand pe***ng
• One-hand suction spinners
• Simple grasp–release tasks

🌟 Older / advanced learners:
• Pe***ng with BOTH hands together
• Pe***ng across midline
• Using one hand to stabilise while the other works
• Two spinners or pegs with 2 hands simultaneously

12 FUN THINGS KDIS CAN PAINT WITH THAT AREN'T PAINTBRUSHES

1. Fingers and Hands
Toddlers love finger painting, and it’s a perfect way to explore textures and colors while getting a little messy.
2. Sponges
Cut sponges into fun shapes or use them whole. Toddlers can dab, stamp, and smear paint to create fun patterns.
3. Toothbrushes
Old toothbrushes make great painting tools! Kids can experiment with flicking the bristles for a splatter-paint effect.
4. Cotton Balls
Dip them in paint and use tongs, fingers, or clothespins to dab and drag them across the paper. It’s like painting with fluffy clouds!
5. Feathers
Soft and wispy, feathers create unique, light strokes on paper. Your toddler will enjoy the delicate feel as they paint.
6. Toy Cars
Roll paint-covered toy car wheels across paper and watch as colorful tracks come to life.
7. Cookie Cutters
Dip cookie cutters in paint and stamp them onto paper. It’s like creating artwork and decorating cookies at the same time!
8. Forks
Plastic forks can create funky lines and textures. Toddlers will find it fascinating to drag the prongs through the paint.
9. Bubble Wrap
Wrap a piece of bubble wrap around their hands or a rolling pin. Add some paint and press or roll for fun, textured shapes.
10. Leaves
Go for a nature walk, collect leaves, and use them as stamps or brushes. It’s a perfect way to combine art and outdoor adventure.
11. Cotton Swabs
Tiny artists will enjoy painting smaller details or dots using cotton swabs. They’re easy for little hands to hold, too!
12. String or Yarn
Dip string or yarn into paint and drag it across the paper for bold, flowing strokes. Experiment with different lengths for added fun.
