Orania Is Leaving Eskom ⚡

They have completed phase one of their Solar plant, after community members donated towards the project.

They now sell power to communities at the same price as Eskom and taking the profits to build the second phase.

If every community, every town, every city can come together like this, ngabe sikude as a country.🤞🏽

Orania is proof that a whole community can live without a government and prosper.

2020 Christmas lunch for our residents and their families was held on Sunday. A special time especially this year as the Lodge has been on strict lockdown for most of this year for the protection of our residents although zooming was often, its never the same.

Hi folks,
During this difficult and very worrying time for all, and that deffinitely includes the families of the residents in our care, this an update on how we at the Lodge as a care facility for our seniors are ensuring that everyone stays healthy and happy.

We are currently on lockdown, including our staff. They are in residence as well. We are aware that this puts pressure on their families..we are attending to that matter as well.
The home has been completely sanitized to ensure the best environment for our residents.

A Skype station is available for residents to stay in touch with their loved ones.

Routines in the home remain the same. This is vital as several of our residents suffer with Dementia... they are not able to process and adapt to changes very well.

'A home away from home' has always been our inspiration.

We encourage family and friend to visit. We arranged a bring and braai on Satuday 3 October to watch the 2015 World Cup Rugby match SA vs Scotland.

As you can see we have 4 dogs, 2 puggies, one pug cross and a daxie, plus 1 cat. Therapy animals are becoming increasingly acknowledge and whilst our baies are not trained, they do a very good job in socialising with our residents and give them unconditional love.

2 of our residents celebrated birthdays in September. Barend celebrated his 80th birthday and Doreen (my mum) celebrated her 87th birthday.

We have partnered with our employment agency FirstClass Domestic run by Karin West, and we now run a practical home care programme for people who would like to become care workers. It is working well and the good thing is that Karin is able to find our ladies good positions in the care industry once they have completed the course.
