Stolen from a friend🙌🙌

Dear Horse industry,

Stop being awful.

Stop putting others down for the sake of one's own prosperity.

Stop the whispers in the warm up ring.

Stop the snarky remarks behind closed doors.

Stop with the clicks and underhanded complements.

Stop with the need for newest and latest fashions or tack sets but never riding your horse in fear they may get dirty.

Stop manipulating others words or actions.

Stop normalizing poor sportsmanship and start normalizing folks who work hard.

Chances are if you've had horses long enough you've encountered some sort of this. From the competition world, to trail riders, to rescues, to top level riders, it's everywhere and it's terrible and it's got to stop. It's got to.

I've met riders, young and old, who are petrified to ride infront of people because some where along the line, someone told them they weren't good enough. I've seen talented people quit because of gossip and I've seen people give up on what they believe in because folks made them belive they were only 1' tall.

When you see a rider kicking them selves after a bad ride, tell them great job for hanging in there and give them some tips.

When you see that girl show up in the rusty old bumperpull, know she likely put everything she had into her entry fees.

When you see an organization fighting for what they believe in, fight with them.

When you see the girl too shy to ride, ask her to help you out by hopping on to keep your horse company because it would be an awfully big help.

When you see the girl scared to death in line up remind them why they are there and they have this.

When you see the girl discouraged over progress, remind them how far they have come.

The world is full of ugliness, horses should be our escape, not a place we feel belittled. We are all incredibly blessed to have Equines in our life. Becoming better Horseman is hard enough without having folks tear you down.

Please start normalizing raising each other up.

So I have been getting a lot of questions lately about how do I do it❓👇
Keeping my old man sound and still competing at his age (19 years old and jumping in open grades)...🐴🙌

The answer is simple:

I stick to a program and regular routine for him, I don't over work or over jump him.

➡️He gets regular physio 💪
➡️ He is stretched after every ride, using carrot stretches🥕🥕
➡️ His legs are hosed down when I'm done riding him💦💦
➡️ He doesn't get jumped more than 1x every week(cavaletti work mostly, with a few jumps in between) 🏇
➡️Hacking as much as possible(atleast once evey 2weeks) for 30 - 40min 🤠

These are just some of the things I do on a regular basis to keep his body and mind happy and healthy. Because it is all about the horse, without them we wouldn't be competing or riding....

❓Twisting in your saddle
❓Collapsing to the side
❓Struggling with flying changes

Lets face it, none of us are 100% symmetrical.
Posterior and Anterior weakness of different muscles can cause you to twist, collapse and compensate when riding.

The Function of the oblique posterior and anterior sling system:

These slings are incredibly important as your body relies on them to perform dynamic movements e.g. walking, running, lifting your arms up and maintain stability e.g. keep your core activated, your seat equal and quiet when riding across multiple joints. They serve a eminently practical purpose: to help you move and function with greater coordination, stability and balance.

All in all, these slings are incredibly vital for both a stable and dynamic foundation.

Benefits of sling exercises:
➡️ Improves balance & core stability
➡️ Spine protection
➡️ Increase rotational force & stability

🔊Shout out to a GOLDEN OLDIE🔊 ICE Therapy 🙌🙌

Cold/Ice therapy can reduce swelling, which is tied to pain. It may also reduce sensitivity to pain. Cold therapy may be particularly effective when you are managing pain with swelling, especially around a joint or tendon.

Key Aspects Of Ice Therapy

Cold therapy can also reduce muscle spasms by making muscles less sensitive to being stretched

Cold is noted for killing pain (‘deadening’ of nerve-cell activity)

Cold reduces swelling (Combined with compression).

Cold initially constricts the walls of blood vessels and compression restricts the amount of blood which can reach an injured body part.

Cold lowers metabolic activity

Studies show that cold produces large decreases in oedema (swelling) and a good reduction in discomfort.

Most people(if not all) are asymmetrical in their body and movement. It often shows in their horses that they ride and the presence of crookedness. Although your horse is partly responsible, your movements influence your horse and its movement.

Rider-horse interaction:

As soon as we mount our horse, we in influence each other and our bodies start interacting. Apart from our weight having an interaction on the horse, our rider skills also play a fundamental role.

Your horse is responsible for a great influence on your movements, but you can influence the movements of the horse as well. For the better and worse, just by being asymmetric yourself. Your asymmetry can alter the load on the back of your horse, and can cause his movements to become asymmetrical as well, even if it is just slightly. This can cause problems with the level of training of the horse on the long run, but also lameness. However, if you show yourself a good rider that takes care of his/her symmetry (and thus work on yourself), you can help your horse to move more stable and more symmetrical.

To prevent injuries and improve the level of you and your horse, it is good to know what way you are influencing the movements of your horse.

If your horse loves you, it is not for the colour of their blanket or their new bridle, it is because it is interested in and gets the pleasure out of working with you.💚

So, learn to establish a DIALOGUE with your horse. Always bear in mind that the hope of a reward is far more stimulating than fear of punishment.

➡️Remember a horse never asked to be ridden, congratulating your horse will make them find new opportunities to keep trying their best🐴

"Everyone needs acknowledgement, even horses."

Imagine completing an exercise and your coach congratulates you with a kind word of encouragement. "Well done, that was brilliant!" Your heart beats faster, your eyes light up and you are happy.

Just like you, the horse is WAITING for rewards. The horse has never asked to be ridden, it would much rather spend its days grazing in a field.

REWARD the smallest progress and improvements. It can change their lives🐴🥰
