Keratoconus can be a concerning diagnosis, but there are several effective strategies to help manage this condition:

1. Spectacles: In the early stages, many patients benefit from specially prescribed glasses to correct vision.
2. Contact Lenses: For more advanced keratoconus, rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses or specialized scleral lenses can provide improved vision and comfort.
3. Collagen Cross-Linking: This innovative procedure strengthens the cornea using riboflavin (vitamin B2) and UV light, helping to halt progression and prevent further distortion.
4. Intacs: These are small, curved inserts that can be placed in the cornea to change its shape and improve vision.
5. Corneal Transplant: In severe cases where other treatments are ineffective, a corneal transplant may be necessary to restore clear vision.
